Travelling without a car

Now restrictions are being lifted I’m starting to think about where we might be able to get to for holidays. We’re in London and rely on public transport as we don’t have a car. We can get out on bikes but we cannot leave London. I’m not really thinking about now, but further into the summer. Are people planning on travelling by train to go on holiday?

What about hiring a car?

holiday?
you mean day trip?

A personal car would be my preference but if that’s not possible it’s going to either be a coach or train.

Distancing is possible on both but air circulation might be difficult depending on whether or not the windows are sealed. It may be that you need to look into PPE and assess your level of happiness with the protection they can offer.

Alternatively you could get some taxi quotes. It’s not unheard of for drivers to accept a long distance job and there’s a possibility there might not be much difference financially with train tickets. Do remember that you’ll need a confirmed driver at either end though as I presume you won’t want to pay for the time for them to wait for you.

I meant to go on holiday really. In the school holidays. It’s not really worth leaving London for day trip.

@CrowdedHouseinQuarantine no, she means a holiday, read the post.

OP how about the Kent coast? Margate/Deal or somewhere like that. Should be accessible by train if you can't hire a car, and not too far away.
