Boris at the Liason Committe virtual meeting looks awful.

Unless the lighting has been deliberately doctored to mske him look waxy, exhausted and like he has borderline central cyanosis

Surely he cannot carry on much longer

I have no sympathy for the way he has acted over the Cummings scandal etc etc but it can't be too long before his health gives up

B1rdbra1n · 27/05/2020 18:12

Surely his health is being closely monitored though?

mangocoveredlamb · 27/05/2020 18:13

He’s got a newborn at home too, so probably not getting much sleep anyway!

AnyFucker · 27/05/2020 18:16

The newborn will not be the issue. Nannies will be the ones losing sleep, not Boris

Boris losing sleep with a newborn Grin

He does look ill. He needs to step aside, maybe there is a process for him to do that without resigning so that someone else can handle the foreseeable future without the disruption of a leadership contest. God knows which incompetent they would choose but it isn't likely to get worse than Boris right now. Cummings can step aside alongside his boss, it solves a lot of problems.

FlibbertyGiblets · 27/05/2020 18:42

I rewatched a bit with the sound off. You are not wrong.

Saladmakesmesad · 27/05/2020 19:30

I thought the same.

Though to be fair he never looks great. He should brush his hair.

cologne4711 · 27/05/2020 21:00

Though to be fair he never looks great. He should brush his hair

That is his image. He messes up his hair deliberately.

B1rdbra1n · 27/05/2020 23:13

when I look at him I see a man in a straight-jacket

halcyondays · 27/05/2020 23:29

He does look ill, rather than just tired and I would be very surprised if he was getting up in the night with the baby. He probably should have taken more time off to recover.

user764329056 · 27/05/2020 23:37

I noticed at yesterday’s press briefing he had foundation or tan on his face, the day before he was horrifically pale, as he was today
BTW heard from reliable source that he messes up his hair before public appearances to maintain the ‘lovable buffoon’ image 🤮

JellyFishSquish · 28/05/2020 00:12

If his hair is fake-messy ("goodness, aren't I just a jolly old whatnot") then might we be excused for assuming that his pale demeanor and cough might be too? Is it cruel or practical to think that one lie ("I am just a jolly friendly chap who has no thought to his personal appearance of course waffle waffle") means another lie more likely ("goodness I'm still ill and yet I show up for these dreadfully unnecessary briefings/meetings/whatever because I am ever so conscientious, the public should applaud my efforts on their behalf and MOVE ON"). I may be sad, bitter and cynical but I feel all the twisting of the truth and the outright lies have made me this way.

BilboBercow · 28/05/2020 00:55

Anyone who thinks Boris is up doing night feeds or changing nappies really hasn't been paying any attention to who the man is.

PerkingFaintly · 28/05/2020 01:08

Just getting on this thread, as I agree this is important.

And yes, the issue is being obscured by his current political predicament, and his long-standing fakery around his personal appearance, and indeed his long-standing practice of dodging of questioners and scrutiny (therefore his non-appearance at the daily briefings hasn't been a giveaway).

But his health could become a major issue for the country.

CoachBombay · 28/05/2020 01:10

He looks unwell I agree. He should have taken longer to recover, the man was in a ICU a few weeks ago. He's health has taken a hammering and it's showing.

People have been saying it's taken weeks/months to recover and that's with resting, not working.

Wingedharpy · 28/05/2020 01:18

The stress of the whole situation must be absolutely immense - albeit that some of that stress has been of his own making.

LadyWithLapdog · 28/05/2020 01:24

He should just piss off for everyone’s mental health. This isn’t going well for him and not going well for the country.

Mumoftwo0357 · 28/05/2020 01:49

You are right. Despite having despised him for close to two decades I do sympathise with his physical condition and hope he can get some rest. This does not stop me wanting him to be held to account for his massive failings whilst he remains in office though. The two are not mutually exclusive

BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue · 28/05/2020 04:39

I agree AF. I've thought he's looked terribly ill for several weeks now.

effingterrified · 28/05/2020 04:51

He also got no rest at the weekend as he was up with Cummings spinning what lies to tell the world's media.

But if you look at the threads on here about the many people who have long-running versions of the illness that go on for months, it does seem to be quite common and he certainly looks and sounds like he is struggling physically and mentally.

effingterrified · 28/05/2020 04:54

You'd like to think that being responsible for over 60000 deaths would be troubling his conscience somewhat, but strangely not a single poster thinks that might even be an issue for Boris.

Pixxie7 · 28/05/2020 05:18

He has to take responsibility for his own actions and if this includes not being fit for work so be it. I have no sympathy for him he is responsible for the whole country and needs to acknowledge that and ask for help if he can’t cope.

Nquartz · 28/05/2020 06:16

@JellyFishSquish I'm inclined to agree. I was reading some running commentary on here yesterday, a few people made the point that he could resign on medical grounds as an easy/more dignified way out than being forced.

PicsInRed · 28/05/2020 07:06

effingterrified

He's probably now worrying about
the 10s or 100s of thousands of deaths that will indirectly result from a protracted lockdown.

Plus national security concerns around this growing stoush with China.

Spotsonmyapples · 28/05/2020 07:53

There is no way he's up with the baby.
a) because of the person he is and the resources they have
b) if you were his partner and he's recently been unwell, and in ITU, and was also trying to steer the country through a pandemic while you were on mat leave, would you ask him to?!? I am no 1950s housewife but I'd definitely be taking that on while he got some rest.
It's not stopped him doing a shit job though.

No, I can't imagine him losing much sleep over that.

One of my tutors was ill around the same time as Johnson, and he is still suffering the aftereffects now. He's quite a bit younger and didn't need to go to hospital, so I can imagine an older, more severely ill person would take longer to fully recover.
