Wondering really what might be open, what is unlikely to be open etc. Wondering how many of the usual activities will be closed. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the 6 week holidays!!

Personally, I really hope outdoor play areas open by end of July. I would normally spend a lot of time in these during school hols!

I think large attractions will be closed. Theme parks, festivals.

Some outdoor places might be open where distancing is possible. Restaurants should be open by then.

Most things will be

Not sure about swimming pools or softplay , cafes restaurants pubs will be open

I’m going to assume that it’s similar to now and then anything else is a bonus.

stuckindoors77 · 27/05/2020 09:12

I'm assuming/hoping I'll be able to go to:

Farms, zoos, safari parks, parks, playgrounds, pick your own places, crazy golf, seaside, shopping, simple self catering holiday, forests and country walks, outdoor play dates, cafes with outdoor seating, drive in cinemas.

Will probably have to book ahead and plan carefully though to accommodate new SD regulations.

We won't be able or won't want to go to swimming, soft-play, theme parks, indoor cafes or restaurants, theatres, cinemas.

I think a few enterprising holiday clubs will open if they can satisfy all the regulations. They'll probably be the ones based around the outdoors like forest school, tennis, multi-sports.

In short, let's hope it's a warm summer 😂😂

I expect it will be similar to now. Last summer I spent my time when owned off work taking my ds to places like trampoline parks, farms, jungle gyms, Legoland etc all places I fully expect to remain closed over the summer holidays. So I’m trying to come up with other ways to keep him entertained.

Thanks, to be honest I'm trying to not hope for much like another poster but if parks and outdoor cafes can open that would great!

I hope we can go on a UK holiday, and that things like zoos and museums will be open. I really hope we can do playdates.

Mightymurphy · 27/05/2020 10:54

When do the English school holidays start please?

MrsWhites · 27/05/2020 10:59

I think pretty much everything will be open by the summer holidays, the road map presented by the PM had cinemas, theatres etc as reopening from July. Obviously social distancing measures will determine how we use these places but I can’t see the government keeping things closed for much longer, they care about the economy more than the people!

Whitewinetonight · 27/05/2020 11:26

Either way, there's going to be some improvement on what we've had over the last few weeks.

Mightymurphy our holidays start around 20 July give or take a few days depending on area.

I am in no rush to resume normal life, we have still remained in our home and garden, ventured out for a local forest walk, within walking distance from our home. And I have no intention of rushing out to the beach, or holiday, shops, day trips until at the earliest September. I leave the house for work only and my once a week food shop. I honestly can't understand the vast crowds heading to all these tourist locations. Obviously we all have free will and can risk asses for ourselves and our own family. But for me, I am in no rush. We can have a garden summer.
