How do I find out the current R rate in London?

Just that really! I read a little while ago that they're expecting London to be virus free very soon. I find that so hard to believe, but where do I find out what's going on right now?

There is no “live” reporting of the R rate. It’s a pretty rough estimate that’s always given in a range (e.g 0.7 to 1.0) by reputable sources.

Besides, the R measures the extent to which it is being transmitted not the number of cases.

For instance, you’re more a risk of catching Covid if the R were 0.4 and the number infected is 100,000 (40,000 would be infected by next “generation”) than if R were 1.0 and 10,000 were infected (10,000 would be infected by next “generation”).

Thanks all. What about the number of new infections?

I go by the interactive map that works with kings college. It gives a good indication.

@parietal

Site is dated 10th May so it’s a bit outdated.... Would be good if they were able to keep it more up to date.

This seems to be up to date for London boroughs: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.mylondon.news/news/zone-1-news/london-coronavirus-boroughs-covid-19-18318831.amp
