Moving forward - how do you see your summer?

A. You'll fully embrace the restrictions and do everything we're allowed, kids back to school, shopping trip soon, holiday, seeing as many friends as possible, people visisting your home (assuming we can do all of these)

B. A bit more cautious, carry on food shopping as you have been but avoid other shops unless essential, go out on walking trips with your family rather than join the crowds on a beach/a local beauty spot, would prefer to see friends outside for now, not sure what to think about kids going back to school/going on holiday

C. You're nervous and will only go out for essential trips and work, and won't see many friends/family for now

Just wondering how others see their summer:

I'm B

I might try and go to non essential shops after summer holidays depending If there isn't a huge rise and numbers going down. I am fed up of Asda.

waltzingparrot · 26/05/2020 16:50

B unless they come up with a miracle treatment and then I can move up to A.

fibeee · 26/05/2020 16:50

B - I will be fully embracing everything that we are now allowed to do but will be avoiding crowds and people I know who are taking the piss and throwing caution to the wind.

Worriedmum999 · 26/05/2020 16:54

C. We have a big garden and land in the middle of nowhere. We have all self isolated completely with no trips out for exercise or food so it’s safe to see my parents and my sister’s family who are doing the same. We are making our own safe bubble. Then we will just pass the summer with homeschooling to get the children ahead, letting the children play in the fields and us drinking wine in the garden.

nex18 · 26/05/2020 16:54

Definitely A but bearing in mind that I am skint! I shall be going and doing whatever the rules and budget allow!

gleegeek · 26/05/2020 16:55

Mainly B with a hint of C. Asthmatic, borderline should be shielding. Haven't been out of the house for anything apart from a daily walk since this all began. We are extremely lucky to live somewhere where I can walk safely and barely meet anyone. Dd has today met up with a friend for the first time but kept apart and washed her hands really well when she got in. I can't imagine going shopping until we're tracking/tracing and got a vaccine or treatment Sad

sunlightflower · 26/05/2020 16:58

A

I've followed the rules to the letter but the second we get more freedom I'll be making the most of it.

TheThingWithFeathers · 26/05/2020 17:01

B. I don't like busy places under normal circumstances so would tend to avoid them anyway but have even more reason to now.
I'll probably continue much as I have been, except might go to the further away big supermarket sometimes, and will visit family members. I don't have any friends locally as I have recently moved so don't think I will see any friends for quite a while as I'd have to go on a train or coach to get to them.

SausageCrush · 26/05/2020 17:01

A/B

Travelban · 26/05/2020 17:02

I will be working from home and kids don't have the option of school until September. I have two boys shielding, so given the above, we would probably just stick to thr current routine... We get our shopping delivered and o ky go out for a daily walk.

If any local parks open (still all shit) I would go for a walk there for a change of scenery. I never go shopping as I mostly shop online, so definitely won't be doing that.

I would love to go and see my family abroad and I would risk it if I could get there and back reasonably safely but we shall see. Bit early to say...

BlueJava · 26/05/2020 17:09

A - however I don't really shop in actual shops (mostly online), don't really go to pubs, but I do like eating out. Will defo will taking a holiday as soon as we can.

HotPenguin · 26/05/2020 17:10

B with a bit of A. I plan to send kids back as soon as I can as I think that's best for them, but I won't be doing things that increase our risk of catching the disease unless it's necessary.

lynsey91 · 26/05/2020 17:13

C. I have been out 4 times since the week before lock down and only to get food. 3 of the times have been click & collect so only been in 1 shop and that was bad enough.

I certainly won't be going to beaches or anywhere where there will be quite a few other people.

I hate shopping at the best of times and have no need for shops other than for food. Also I hate queueing so not willing to queue to go into a shop. Also I doubt other shoppers will abide by the rules. The only supermarket I have been in was Aldi in the 2nd week of lockdown and so many people ignoring the rules. In no rush to experience that again

ScrapThatThen · 26/05/2020 17:21

A except I dislike shopping and people, and dh not so keen on our holiday going ahead, so more B in practice.

RickOShay · 26/05/2020 17:25

crazychemist · 26/05/2020 17:26

A EXCEPT with regards to seeing vulnerable relatives. As a non-vulnerable person in my 30s, it’s probably best if I get it during the summer (assuming the NHS is not swamped at that point) as I’m not likely to avoid it forever so that way I’d be contributing to herd immunity, hopefully without putting extra strain on the NHS. But I am very much hoping to see my parents during the summer (we have somewhere booked together in a rural spot), so we’ll isolate for ten days prior to that to reduce the risk to them.

Yoyoallovertheshow · 26/05/2020 17:27

B

manicinsomniac · 26/05/2020 17:28

Mostly A with a bit of B - not going on holiday and will continue to pick quiet, rural walks over crowded places. Other than that, I will do as much as is allowed as soon as it is allowed.

Taswama · 26/05/2020 17:36

B but our life was already like that. Being able to see friends and family again will be nice but have never been a fan of busy places, and the kids don’t like them either. Shopping as a leisure activity, no thanks.

MorrisZapp · 26/05/2020 18:10

A, absolutely. Won't be travelling abroad until at least next year, but very much hoping to have a weekend trip to York in September.
