Day in day out at home. Work at home walk back to home. Just had another walk thought would call for takeaway coffee for treat. Ten mile queue so no coffee. I literally can't hack months and months of this

It won't be months and months , although every day feels like a month

( provided people are really strong now and we manage t9 implement a test trace and isolate mechanism )

LudaMusser · 24/05/2020 15:31

Lol @ ten mile queue

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 15:33

Going to log onto wirk tomorrow supposed to be bank holiday but every day is same really so may as well work

KatherineJaneway · 24/05/2020 15:34

How long would you have had to wait for a coffee?

KnobChops · 24/05/2020 15:34

I think it’ll end soon. It’s miserable op I empathise. DH and I both are still working and commuting but poor teenage DD is on her own most of the week. The guilt!
I keep looking at the countries which had it bad and peaked 2 weeks before us and they are returning to normality, as must we. Come to the dementors threads which are sensible and realistic.

ScubaSteven · 24/05/2020 15:35

It's annoying but it's either that or putting yourself (and others) at risk. I just keep repeating this to myself when it seems never ending.

Can you do something that makes you feel better for a while? I've taken to having an hour each day where I don't think about work or corona and it's definitely helping.

Is it looking like you'll be working from home for the foreseeable?

AhComeOnNow · 24/05/2020 15:43

Are you in England? Go out for a drive if you drive. Arrange to meet someone for a walk or picnic. Find out what time the coffee place opens and get there just as they are opening. Look at Google maps and walk somewhere from your house you've never been before - even just a random street. Get a friend's address and send them a letter or something really inexpensive to let them know you're thinking of them. Find a recipe of something you've never cooked and plan it in for one day next week - doesn't have to be complicated. Blow £20 on deliveroo for absolutely anything - a huge takeaway or even just some crisps and chocolate from Coop.

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 15:45

We aren't going back to office full time apparently as we made a bit too good a job of working from home. I don't know how I feel about that it's a big change.

Had an update from hairdressers about possible re opening...hairdresser in full ppe customers having wear masks. Not for me thank you.
Just hope redundancy isnt next thing.

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 15:46

I don't have anyone to meet really. Possibly sister but she won't go out. Because of the virus

OP posts:
Bagelsandbrie · 24/05/2020 15:46

I feel exactly the same as you op.

thesnoopdragon · 24/05/2020 15:54

.hairdresser in full ppe customers having wear masks. Not for me thank you.

I had my hair cut on Friday (not in UK)
Despite the black bags as robes, having my hair dried with paper towels and wearing a mask when it was 32 degrees outside it was bloodly lovely and made me feel loads better after 8 weeks of very stringent lockdown.

MRex · 24/05/2020 15:55

I find endless inane chit-chat at the hairdresser annoying, if they added "no unnecessary chit-chat" to their PPE and masks, I could really enjoy it.

Find a decent coffee to have at home and you'll feel much better, at least there's no queue for the damn kettle (usually). I can recommend Cafe Direct Smooth Roast Instant Coffee.

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 15:56

Icing on cake made decision after hovering for ages and cancelled UK summer holiday for end of July. We would only drive there and do walks what's the point? Highly likely tourists wont be wanted anyway

I must admit I anticipated a far more distressing account than what you’ve relayed so far...

Deblou43 · 24/05/2020 16:18

I feel the same I know I have to but not sure how much more I can take living like this that I can feel depression setting in it is awful

Ipigglemustdie · 24/05/2020 16:19

The horror....

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 16:21

Thanks Redolent. I just attempted one bit of normality today but even that's not possible it seems.

I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m shielding, so I cannot leave the house at all, my children cannot return to school even when they reopen, I’ve been told to expect a phonecall asking me whether I’m happy to have DNR added to my health records. I’m trying to work from home and homeschool: not possible to do both so I’m doing neither properly. I don’t know if my mental health or my children’s will survive this and there may be a year or more to go.

What I would give to go out and queue for an hour for a coffee.

AhGoGo · 24/05/2020 16:41

Download a new podcast or audiobook, listen to it while you queue for coffee. Enjoy that coffee.

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 16:43

We abandoned that mission. Looks like same old day in day out for foreseeable. I've got books on kindle but struggling get into anything

OP posts:
AhGoGo · 24/05/2020 16:51

Do it tomorrow, if a coffee will make your day a little brighter please get that coffee.

Been struggling with books as well so I understand. I hope tomorrow is a little kinder to you. Ups and downs.

EnlightenedOwl · 24/05/2020 16:53

I think I'll log on and work x need sort something anyway

RaininSummer · 24/05/2020 16:55

I find going to work every day is the same thing day after day to be honest so working from home is a lovely change. I go out for a walk most days and even take coffee with me. As its a non work day today (and sun is shining) I drove somewhere else for a change and walked and had coffee. It is what you make it and I honestly don't get what people are finding so hard unless they are stuck in flat with kids or abusive partners. especially now we can leave our immediate area a little .

MadameMarie · 24/05/2020 16:57

I find Monday to Friday okay. Only difference is i'm WFH which i'd prefer to the office anyway.

The weekends are painfully dull and i'm itching for a break or a day out summer but not worth it until things are back to some form of normality.

PotholeParadise · 24/05/2020 16:57

I have an e-book on the go for all queues. Shuffling along in a queue outside in the sun with a book is a change from life at home, and I've been told a change is as good as a rest.
