Are my mixed ethnicity children at risk?

Can anyone help me understand the link between BAME and increased susceptibility to covid 19? I haven't really given this much thought until my school asked whether I'd send my kids back on 1st June. They're mixed black, Asian and white. In good health, no underlying conditions.

You might find this article interesting which goes over some of the possible reasons for that link between BAME and more severe COVID outcomes which could include Vitamin D levels, prevalence of heart conditions, housing and living situations etc: www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/news/behind-the-headlines/coronavirus/coronavirus-and-bame-patients

One of the best things you could do for your children is to make sure they are getting their vitamin D levels topped up from sunshine and/or vitamins. Other than that, young, healthy children are generally comparatively low risk.

Thank you. That seems geared up towards adults. I presume then that no extra risk has been found for BAME children, underlying conditions aside?

It’s a worry for me aswell op, Im mixed race (white/black) and my children’s dad is black. Can’t seem to find out any answers if they are more at risk.

I'm following here with great interest as you have a mix within our family I'd expect to be potentially problematic but not come across much hard evidence on this at all?

Peanutbuttermouth · 20/05/2020 16:19

Google gives me results on BAME adults who are working on frontline or in poor health but nothing much on children?

There is no information for children of any ethnicity as the peer reviewed research hasn't been done.
