BSL interpreter at briefings

Have we seen the government's response to the petition on this? petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301461

It's an awful lot of waffle as usual, but this is the main excuse:

"In line with Public Health England (PHE) guidelines, it is not possible to safely include a physical British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter in the room for daily briefings as this would require additional operations staff such as an additional cameraman to be present."

Such a shame that they cannot find a bigger room. If only there were, say, a big hall or two just down the road in a big empty building like, oh, the Houses of Parliament, or a few government departmental buildings, that they could use.

Seriously, they're not even trying to produce convincing lies any more.

They have a BSL interpreter on the BBC News version. All the BBC needs to do is show that version on mainstream TV

Yet the devolved briefings manage 🤔🙁

DramaAlpaca · 20/05/2020 02:13

The Irish ones manage too. It's shocking that the main UK briefing doesn't.
