Not a chance sadly! We're on our knees now trying to juggle full time jobs and 2 under 6s. And now school have told us they're definitely not providing any provision for reception until at least the 15th June. I could have cried this morning.
We're going to just enlist the grandparents to provide care instead. We've had enough.

I hope so. I have been unable to work since school shut as my job isn't possible to do from home. I rely on holiday clubs in summer so they don't open I won't be able to go back to work until September! Sad

We are in Scotland but our holiday club have already said they won't be running over the summer. 21 weeks or something like that 6 yr old will be home. Just hoping you get DD can go to nursery as both a home and working is hell on earth.

Bigbouncingbaby · 19/05/2020 19:33

Yes don’t think they will but I really hope they do ! Likewise I can’t work until September let’s just hope the schools do open .... if the unions don’t get their way ! Mine desperate to go back only one can .

CarrieBlue · 19/05/2020 20:59

@Bigbouncingbaby yes, damn those pesky unions standing up for a safe environment for your children, how dare they!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 19/05/2020 21:18

How is it going to work with annual leave booked over the summer if clubs aren't open?

I'm just thinking of my workplace (not my team). There will be loads of people that have leave booked but if the parents aren't able to work because of childcare then I'm not sure how it will work.

We don't have anyone on furlough. It has mainly been paid leave but that won't be sustainable when others are off on leave.

BooSurprise · 19/05/2020 21:22

As a lone parent with a frontline job, I’m not sure how I’m going to work if there are no paid childcare options and ideally I won’t be using grandparents- they may struggle to cope at best and are over 70 and not in perfect health.

TuckMyWin · 19/05/2020 21:28

Surely one of the purposes of getting schools back has been childcare- what's the point if 6 weeks later we are all back to square 1 because holiday clubs can't open? I'll be quite frustrated if ours can't open- it's set in several acres on the same site as a nursery. If the nursery can open, why can't the holiday club? It's not like they haven't got the space!

ChablisandCrisps · 19/05/2020 21:31

@BooSurprise how old are your children? Nurseries can re-open when schools do and many take children in the holidays as do childminders.

AnxiousAnnie13 · 19/05/2020 23:10

There’ll have to be something because key worker children will have to go somewhere and teachers won’t look after them over summer (and nor should they). I doubt there will be anything open to all children in the same numbers as normal though.

user1000000000000000001 · 20/05/2020 01:58

The holiday club thst runs independently but is situated in my DDs school is running but will only be allowing key worker children

cabbageking · 20/05/2020 05:10

You can't presently mix key worker children with non key workers.

The point is to limit contact with children from different groups.
