Just to stop doing it all

I’ve been super cautious this whole lockdown period. We took our kids out of school a week before the schools closed. Stop seeing Grandparents then too. Had food delivered. Washing shopping. Not having take aways.
Having limited outdoor time apart for a walk around the block.
I’m just exhausted by it all. I just want some ‘normal.’
Ironically we had symptoms the week after we stopped going out but obviously there was no tests then.
Would it be wrong just to start living a bit? Particularly with the schools going back in June. Do we need to start living with the risk? I’m genuinely trying to work it out.

OP

There’s always been risk, it sounds like you didn’t think about it, sensibly.

But you weren’t being bombarded with info.

I’ve got asthma, had pneumonia twice despite the vaccine, which doesn’t protect against all strains.

This short video from Chris Whitty might help

X post

I can imagine a new born would make you more worried. Your doc will know how best to protect them.

We have followed the rules very carefully as we live with my Nan, we are shopping washers too, I wipe down all her post as well, insane I know but have to keep her safe. we now have driven further a field for exercise and it was lovely, we also went to Starbucks drive thru, was amazing. Admittedly we did wipe down the cups, I am contemplating a take away this Friday as it’s half term and we need a treat and a bit of normal, we shall be having a picnic on Wednesday.

A newborn in the mix to would definitely make me more anxious.

@BBCONEANDTWO me too, working all throughout and my primary school kids going to school, I had no choice to be furloughed or wfh due to my job, not much has changed for us as a family, although I do feel bad my girls have to go into school with none of their friends, youngest is 4 and it's tough on her.

because I know nothing has changed about the virus

^ but it has :) there is far less community transmission and today only 4% of the 80 thousand plus people tested were positive - it's been running at 13/14% before ... that's really good news. There are still cases popping up but lots of those are in care homes & acquired in hospitals. I feel safer now wrt community transmission than I have done since early/mid March.

I'm with you OP.
I'm tired of disinfecting every single thing that comes in the house. Haven't left the house in 10 weeks. It's repetitive and sending me crazy.

Your body has been on high alert too long - no one can sustain that. Get out in the sunshine with the baby... don’t wear sunblock ( vitamin D is important for you). Get some long walks in with plenty of fresh air - throw the windows open at home. Have an appropriately distanced coffee with a friend and get yourself a take away at the weekend. You absolutely cannot hide in the house forever you will drive yourself insane.
