Is it hay fever?!

Can 5 years olds get Hayfever? For about 10 days my 5 year old has had a cough - snotty nose (green phlegm coughed up) no temperature - two nights of waking up because of bad dreams. Full appetite - generally a good mood.

I don't know how it is a cold - both children have had issues with their lungs when younger so we've pretty much been isolating bar a daily walk. We've managed online deliveries most weeks.

any ideas? Possibly just a cold?! But where from?

I think anyone can get hayfever, I used to suffer badly as a child but coughing wasn't really an issue whereas itchy/ runny eyes and constant sneezing/ runny ( not snotty) nose was.

Definitely a snotty nose.... no itchy eyes.

Just no idea where the cold has come from.

I've suffered with hay fever since just before my sixth birthday so yes five years olds can get it.

Hay fever is itchy, my eyes, ears and throat itch. My nose blocks right up but streams clear liquid. And sometimes I have developed a cough during the hay fever season.

I developed hay fever as an adult but a lot of my friends had it from when they were kids. For me it’s itchy eyes, ears and throat, a cough and blocked nose. Sometimes my face itches as well

My DC had hay fever from about a year old which was dismissed by her doctor a cold or virus. It was a pharmacist who said it was hay fever and it made so much sense due to the timing and 18 years on she still suffers in late spring early summer. The trick for her is low dose antihistamine daily early in the season before onset.
