How many bars of soap or bottles of hand wash have you been through?

Just nosey really. In the first 2 weeks we (2 people) went through 3 bottles of soap. Since then its gone back to the normal amount of daily washing (around ten times a day each) because we are shielding and there is no added risk.

What about you ?

Not sure about the soap, but I’ve been though a lot of hand gel and even more moisturiser. My DS refuses to use moisturiser/hand cream and his poor hands are so chapped.

No more than usual tbh. We always wash our hands when we get home and before eating so can't say I've noticed a difference.

At home, we've just been using normal amounts. But at school one of my kids teachers has been v keen about enforcing the handwashing rule (which is a good thing in principle, not teacher bashing, my kids school.os amazing!!) So DS hands are now red raw and we are having to use multiple creams on them and encouraging him not to wash them at home!!

No more than usual. We wash hands after using the toilet, when we get home and before meals but we did that anyway.

A bar in the kitchen, still going strong, two in the bathroom, one in the bath. The old tip of leaving soap to harden in the linen cupboard makes them last loads longer.

3 of us, 2 adults and a teenager. We have just started our 9th pump dispenser of handwash so using around 1 a week. DH working out of the house.

4 people at home have been getting through a bottle (300ml?) of hand soap a week. The kids were using my expensive hand cream so I bought a big tin of Blue Nivea. That’s more than half gone.
Bar soap in the shower- a bar a week?
Here in Italy it’s masks and gloves if you want to go out and I find the talc inside latex gloves really annoying. I have to wash at least twice to get rid of it.

I'm in Italy too but not many people are wearing gloves where I am - just as well as they always seem to be out of stock.

No more than usual - I handwash anyway.

No idea. We don't use liquid soap and we go through lots of bars anyway with 5 of us in the house. We are going through hand cream and aloe vera gel like wildfire though. Lots of sore hands.

A normal amount. Panic bought it in the beginning. Still sat in the cupboard.

Got ezcema in the beginning as I was doing more handwashing as I work in healthcare - all cleared up now as we changed to video so not doing nearly as much handwashing.

The same as usual. I've always washed my hands when getting back from anywhere anyway. Actually using less handwash than a few months back as I bought a foaming dispenser.

We were washing our hands after touching anything new in the house originally! I was ridiculous worried and my hands were red raw ! I've always washed my hands a lot but went into overdrive !

We wash our hands as much as we always did; we’re not leaving the house much (other than going for walks).

We’d just bought a huge bar of soap for the shower before this all went down, it will be going strong for months yet.

We were almost at the end of a handwash in the bathroom so we’ve just started a fresh 500ml bottle.

The kitchen probably has another couple of months to go.

We’ll need a new bottle of lotion for the bathroom sink soon, though.

Just a heads up for anyone who is getting sore skin, my hands were getting very dry and sore at the beginning (I work in the community) and I started using Dove soap. My hands are fine now, however much I wash them (a lot)

Usual amount I'd say, though thank goodness I was in B and M today because over the tannoy they told me that if they had run out of handwash to buy, not to worry because I could use a bar of soap. So glad they told me that brand new piece of information.

I started making homemade soap back in February which now seems very prescient timing. It gets used up more quickly but it's nice to be able to make extra-moisturising soap bars to reduce dryness.

No more than normal here. Usually wash my hands when I come home anyway as they usually feel dirty or sticky.

The same amount as usual, but we always wash our hands when coming home, after using the toilet, after feeding the cat and.....touching the dustbin (I am still totally bemused that some people had to be advised to wash their hands after touching their bin).

DD, for some reason, threw lots extra soap on the trolley when we were shopping last January so we didn't even need to panic buy.

Washing my hands is my new hobby.

When I'm at a loose end, I wash my hands.

Changing hand towels is a rapidly developing activity too.

I’m not counting - but no more than usual. My mum always taught me to wash my hands after being out, I’ve always done it to avoid catching colds, so this isn’t really any different. Honestly the whole sell out of hand wash was a bit eyebrow raising - I don’t think it was all hoarders, I think a lot of people just never washed their hands regularly or properly before all this, just a splash of water after going to the toilet etc...

We've just finished a large bottle of Marseille liquid soap in the bathroom and about to start a new bottle. Will need to fill up the dispenser in the kitchen and then we are using bar soap of which we have a lot. I'm looking to use bar soap instead of liquid in an effort to cut down on single use plastic.
