Ds's high school have confirmed her class won't be in until September at the earliest. I'm feeling a little panicky and tearful.

I've done 9 weeks now of shielding/self isolation. I'm exhausted and feel like there's no end in sight and the news hit me hard today.

I've been doing really well, the dc have been doing great, but this seems to have zapped us. The thought of 3.5 months more of no school is going to take some getting used to. It was pretty obvious they wouldn't be going back before September but being told that's the definite case really made it real to me. And the HT said "at the earliest" so not even definitely September. It's all a bit much today.

Is anyone else feeling the same?

Lots of people seem to say ‘high school’ for ‘secondary school’ these days, effingterrified

I use secondary and high school interchangeably. All my secondaries were high schools (I went to 4 in total thanks to moving around a lot). No one has ever questioned the terminology before Hmm

Yes we had an email. No Covid cases though just not back until September. They’re both so upset. My daughter is terrified of falling further behind as she’s already way behind.

I’m gutted. I kind of knew it would be September but was quietly hoping for June.

In Norfolk & Suffolk, our state secondaries are "high schools". Ipswich, Stalham, Beccles, Long Stratton...

3/4 of my offspring were in full time education on 15 March. Now none of them are. Definitely none of them will be back in school before September. Only one DC has any structured online learning which is overwhelmingly revision. 4/4 of my offspring were supposed to attend in person education or training in September. Now it is not clear if any of them will be. Two DC don't know where they will be living. But few people agree education & training are important right now My kids are supported & clever & can find self-discipline when required, will land on their feet. Society, not so much.

Where are you @effingterrified, that you're so shocked to hear the term High School?!
Most people round here would refer to secondary school as high school - we're in the midlands.

It's so tough on these poor kids. I think worse for teens than any other age group, socially.

Gutted here too. Have an only child, now lookIng at months of grumpy isolation.
