I'm coughing to the point I vomit. Ache all over. Really, really ache. Lungs feel weird - dusty?

I've had pneumonia a couple of times but this feels different.

Temperature is normal.

Is this it?

@softjellycell I went on at 8am as they went live on Tuesday and got one straight away

WanderingMilly · 15/05/2020 21:37

Glad you have ordered a test because this sounds like the virus.
I didn't cough very much, my temperature didn't go up at first but I had a 'second wave' and then my temp did. But it was the aches that were the worse for me, terrible, terrible aches. They were in my neck, arms, shoulder blades and seemed to go into my chest from my back (not the front) if that makes sense. After a couple of days the aches moved down to the small of my back, hips, top of my legs. They were so bad I would cry out if I turned over in bed, and that was with paracetamol to dull the pain. Dreadful....

Northernsoullover · 15/05/2020 21:43

I'm absolutely speechless that your boss told you to 'see how you feel'

softjellycell · 15/05/2020 21:50

WanderingMilly that sounds dreadful, poor you.
I had horrendous muscle aches - I could barely stand up to cook - in the muscles at the front of my upper legs.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 15/05/2020 22:19

softjellycell follow the link the PP posted.

Was surprisingly easy.

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon
Hello,

I'm core NHS and occasionally working on Covid wards, as a manager 90% of my role is in the non covid side of the NHS.

I am fairly certain that what you have described is CV.

AnnieCartwright · 16/05/2020 09:02

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon

How are you feeling today?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 16/05/2020 11:07

I ache. Really, really ache.

Still coughing until I vomit but it's the aching which is the worst.

Not going into work. Staying home until I get test results back. Honestly, I ache so much I'm not even sure I could walk there.

But mentally am good. Going to rest. Drink tea. Might play The Sims. Hurts to move so not going to bother. Going to chill out.

Been working my arse off over the last two months because we've been short of staff. I need a rest.

It sounds like what our family had over Christmas although we were told it couldn’t be Corona as it wasn’t in the UK till the end of January.

AvocadoPrime · 16/05/2020 11:47

I hope you feel better soonFlowers

whichteaareyou · 16/05/2020 11:50

Any new cough has to be treated as covid so you should self isolate. My SIL is a doctor who deff had covid and the test came back negative. The tests are only 70% accurate.

Hollyhobbi · 17/05/2020 00:21

Why is the advice in the UK for someone diagnosed as positive for Covid 19 to only self isolate for 7 days? In Ireland it's 14 days from your first symptoms. No wonder it's so bad over there.

BatCrazyCat · 18/05/2020 22:08

Hi op, have you had results. I'm having similar symptoms.

PolkadotsAndCandyfloss · 19/05/2020 01:32

I had similar symptoms back in mid February and am unsure if I’ve had it or not. Have you had results from the test? Hope you’re feeling better!

Northernsoullover · 19/05/2020 06:52

@Hollyhobbi I did see that it was 7 days if you feel ok but if you have a temp you isolate until its gone.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 19/05/2020 18:54

Test came back negative. I don't have it.

Amazed at how fast it was all done. Insanely quick.

So, not sure what it is. I felt horrendous at the time and still not feeling brilliant.

Back to work tomorrow.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon

Are you feeling up to going to work.

What you had/have sounded so much like what a lot of people had over Christmas time.

The only difference we had was none of us could actually work for weeks after shaking the main symptoms off

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 20/05/2020 15:17

I was sent home from work after an hour. They called someone to cover my shift about five minutes after I got in.

The walk there floored me. Got a taxi hone.

Been in bed since. Did some stuff for work on my laptop in bed but just been lying here since.

OP posts:
TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 20/05/2020 15:18

Not working for weeks isn't an option. No work, no pay.

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/05/2020 18:58

We were in the same boat. No work = No money. We didn’t really start to get back to normal until just before lockdown

BBCONEANDTWO · 20/05/2020 19:11

You should be entitled to sickness pay and I wonder if you couldn't have another test - it might be that your symptoms hadn't come out properly or something - rest and look after yourself. Hugs to you

Caterpillierfoot · 20/05/2020 19:17

I spoke to a doctor on 111 last Thursday. He told me to take test based on my symptoms

He also said they are getting a lot of false negatives and if mine comes back negative I’m to still isolate for 14 days because I’ve probably got it.

AnnieCartwright · 21/05/2020 08:48

OP, you could have had a false negative swab. Treat your symptoms as COVID and go from there.

exexpat · 21/05/2020 09:54

"Test came back negative. I don't have it."

A negative test does not mean you don't have it. There are lots of false negatives. Someone I know has been in and out of hospital with Covid symptoms, and doctors say she has had it, but has tested negative three times.

You need to act as if you have it, and if your workplace is making you go in to work in close contact with other people (particularly anyone vulnerable) that is very irresponsible. Are you not entitled to any sick pay?

Lougle · 21/05/2020 13:14

"He also said they are getting a lot of false negatives and if mine comes back negative I’m to still isolate for 14 days because I’ve probably got it."

The rule is 7 days for the person with symptoms and 14 days for family with no symptoms, so even if you do have it, you only need to isolate for 7 days.
