Hi, I am looking for some decent facemasks. There seems to be quite a few out there but not good quality. I would like my family to have some sort or barrier and one that’s washable. Big ask I know! Please point me in the right direct!
I bought some local cotton ones and they didn’t last five mins

Do any of these masks work with glasses... ie: not steaming them up!

I bought from cases shirts on Etsy and I was disappointed that I was charged more than they are advertised for now. The masks are okay but were £9.99 each. I wouldn’t buy from them again.
I have ordered the Baukjen packs am waiting for those to arrive.

bespoke-facemasks.com this company isn't even declared on companies house so i'd be very wary on ordering from them.

If you go to the about us page, they don't give the company name but the contact email is @trailenterprise and state they are in Worcestershire. Trail Enterprise are on companies house, based in Worcestershire. It might not be the same company, but it seems likely.

I am just feel guilty as I recommended them-have been buying kit from them for about 8 years and just wanted to put in a good word for a British business who (like so many) is struggling with no sport/no business so just trying to survive. They are:

To stop glasses steaming up you need a face covering with a nose wire (pipe cleaner will do) also a square of toilet paper folded up and placed along the top edge will help.

miatheminx with 7.5 billion people requireing some protection, it is best to leave medical masks to medical people. The black market in the trade of these is huge. Rather than Rob a HCP of their life, get a fabric face covering.

I saw some very stylish masks on local Facebook page but I'm not sure linen is the most suitable fabric as it tends to very open weave, doesn't like a hot wash (and creases like crazy)

These are the ones I've got [https://www.teriberry.com] - the maker has actually done a bit of research and has what I consider to be a very measured attitude to what face coverings can and can't do.

The only mask that will protect the wearer is either an FFP2 or FFP3 - anything else about catching droplets to protect other people. Even then it's minimal.

I wish people would stop repeating this. The biggest function of civilian type masks is to protect others, but any mask (even a homemade one) will provide SOME protection to the wearer, by reducing the viral dose breathed in and in particular by forming a physical barrier that reduces your exposure if someone spits, coughs or sneezes near/at your face. Remember, the amount of virus you are exposed to appears to matter a lot with this virus, just like it did with SARS.

Th original poster was asking about goggles. Here in Tokyo many people wear goggles in high risk places like crowded trains. Those who don't want to go that far often use hats with brims and stick to glasses rather than contact lenses, or sunglasses if their vision is perfect. It all helps to create a basic physical barrier.

For babies and small toddlers who cannot wear a mask, put a rain cover over the pram if you are going into a high risk environment.

The op asked about protection masks.

The only masks that protect the wearer are medical grade - I wasn't suggesting anyone buy these. I work in medical procurement so I know about PPE and the difficulty in getting it.

People are just not understanding the message. Face coverings protect others from you not you from others.

The misunderstanding has benefits. People are more likely to comply with something they see as a benefit to themselves.

This article provides an overview of some of the evidence supporting mask wearing. As you will see, even surgical masks reduce the droplets breathed in by the wearer. These masks don't form a tight seal, but they can still reduce the amount of virus being breathed in. And amount matters with this virus.
