This is interesting. A study just published suggests higher levels of Vitamin D might help prevent it getting critical

Following- very interesting thread

Why does the graph I posted show more white people are dying than BAME

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/05/2020 21:26

I can't read the graph, but is it absolute numbers rather than percentages? You can have a higher percentage of BAME people dying but still higher numbers of white people because there are more of them in the first place.

@Dowser you and me both actually lol. I eat well but I do buy expensive supplements too. Pukka, Solgar, Viridian..... you with me?!

Dowser · 13/05/2020 06:39

Frida..oh yes..and don’t forget the herbs.
I’m switching over a lot more to herbs.
Plus I can make my own homeopathy..you know, that stuff that doesn’t work😉
Although since I started to see a medical Dowser I have got better a lot faster. He has the knowledge that I never had the chance to train for.
Also going 100 per cent gluten and dairy free since July last year means I already had a lot less inflammation in the system.
My ibs that ive suffered with for decades has now virtually gone.
Zapped by a good diet, supplements, herbs, remedies including ones from the flower essences to help mental health and I think it’s fair to say we’ve all needed this uplift right now.

I think at 68 with a few health conditions but not on any medications ( not counting the ones I’ve mentioned) I’m doing very well.

@fedupfrida and @Dowser

A bit off topic but since you're here, what should a 60 year old woman take to support joints, bone health to maintain flexibility? I'm a regular brisk walker and cyclist for exercise as I can't stand the gym.

I'm a Solgar fan but a bit confused. Thank you.

wonkytonkwoman · 13/05/2020 07:09

Oh and sorry, I tend to stay away from red meat but eat alot of mackeral, eggs, grains etc with some lapses into sugary stuff.

fedupfrida · 13/05/2020 08:21

@wonkytonkwoman

Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor but here’s my amateur recommendation-
For joints a lot of people see benefits with glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements.
They can cause stomach upset though so trial them out. My mum takes them and she’s in late 60s and does lots of exercise. She swears by them.
For bones vitamin D with K (very important unless you eat lots of K rich foods such as liver, egg yolks, grass fed butter and hard cheeses). The K ensures that the calcium you eat which the D helps to absorb goes to your bones and not your arteries (which results in calcified arteries!). My parents take a daily oral K&D spray (Amazon).
Magnesium is important too for bones.
As you already eat oily fish I wouldn’t worry about taking a fish oil. Twice a week salmon/mackerel/sardines is magic.

Yoga. Best thing ever for joints and flexibility.
Never too old to start. My parents both in late 60s do it:) Lots of free videos on YouTube.

I used to believe that too until I became D deficient. If I got a cut on my finger it would take days upon days to heal and leave greater scarring. pain is exascerbated by deficiency. The majority of population have inadequate levels due to processed foods where vitamins halved or else minimal oily fish intake. Other products fortified with D have limited amounts and not enough if person insufficient.

Dowser · 15/05/2020 08:36

All sounds good what Frida says.
My routine is
Breakfast home made gluten free oat muesli with all the Varieties of nuts, seeds, dried fruits and fresh fruits I can cram IN
I take betaine Hcl with that

With almond milk.
Followed by a cocktail of vitamin b, vit d3 with k, borax, yes that’s right and there’s a proper way to take it zinc ascorbate drops, concentrace( got most of your essential electrolytes in there) and two coral calcium capsules from the Caribbean..not japan
I have squeezed lemon in hot water and rinse my mouth with bicarb of soda in water

I take my homeopathy after that.

Later on, I’ll have some home brewed colloidal silver , with some olive leaf extract and some juniper berry tincture and maybe a drop Or two of of goldenseal

Lunch is rice cakes with a chocolate topping and banana..treat of the day..more concentrace And another betaine hcl. A capsule containing nascent iodine and ionic selenium

Dinner ..animal protein, veg and some carb And more concentrace and betaine hcl

More juniper berry, olive leaf, goldenseal and Betaine hcl
Drink water or peppermint tea through the day. I might have some dark chocolate as well. A couple of squares.

Bedtime, I take 1 melatonin and two passiflora tablets. If I think bowels are a bit sluggish I’ll take 1/2 muvicol with 1/2 Senna tablet in a gram of dissolvable vit c

That’s my basic routine ..for now. I adjust it according to whatever pops up. Like I’m fighting a toothache right now. So I’m on homeopathy for that and various herbs, which will stop after a certain time span.
You don’t want to stick on them for ever
I’ve just started to brew my own colloidal silver so I’m really just trialling it’s.
I’ve heard lots of good reports and been researching it for two years so I’m fingers crossed it’s going to be a game changer.

This cv situation is really messing around with my mental health, so I’m taking several flower essences for that.
The Bach ones are a great place to start but I think my medical Dowser has me on the australian bush ones.

Definitely look into borax ( for the boron) and msm powder for muscles and bones.

Hope that helps.

Dowser · 15/05/2020 08:40

Oh and up till now three winter sunshine holidays in Tenerife in October, December and March for the vit d..I was there when we went into lockdown and had to be evacuated back to uk.

I think that’s why we’ve been so well.

wonkytonkwoman · 15/05/2020 17:40

Wow, thank you, very informative and reassuring actually. I'm not a million miles away in terms of my dietary lifestyle and I can make a start on the basics with added vitamins and minerals etc.

Dowser · 18/05/2020 19:26

Let me know how you get on 👍
