Has your primary aged child gone back to school yet?

I was quite surprised to hear from my BIL that our year 5 niece has gone back to school today, for an hour each day.
I thought, according to Boris’s speech last night that primary schools MAY reopen from 1st June earliest.
My dc are secondary age so no news yet but was very surprised that niece going back from today?
Is this happening elsewhere in the country from today?

Yes for what I understood it was not yet.

Keyworker and vulnerable (which has a broad definition)children can already go in.

Afternooninthepark · 11/05/2020 14:05

She’s neither a child of a key worker or vulnerable. Her school has opened for all pupils to have an hour per day, each day. I don’t know of anyone else’s child who has yet returned to school yet.

How odd
Can't see the point of an hour
Are the children in groups coming in for different hours ?
Cleaning in between must be a nightmare !!!!
I'm a TA in school looking after KW kids

HotPinkLilies · 11/05/2020 18:42

That school should be reported.

frasersmummy · 11/05/2020 18:45

Surely that school is breaking the law

Afternooninthepark · 12/05/2020 08:59

That was my first thought when Boris said 1st June earliest for primary schools opening.

That's really bizarre, as although Boris's speech was clear as mud, he definitely said 1st June and if conditions are right.
