Early Years v Primary/secondary

Very little mentioned about nurseries and childminders only of primary and secondary. Does anyone think, as I do, that following the allowance of domestic nannies that nurseries and childminders etc will be before primary school?

I’ve been thinking the same, no mention of early years, but yes I do agree I think they’ll be back in maybe a phased way before schools.

I really hope the nursery opens, I can't see how but clinging onto hope!

Nannies have been allowed to continue working the whole time, it isn't a new allowance.

I work in the nursery class of a school. I’m not sure we will be a priority, I think they will get the older kids back before ours.

The private nursery I use would actually be pretty well positioned to open up their 3 to 5yo classes. They have large grounds with a partially under cover outdoor classroom, and were already thinking about starting a parallel 100% outdoor nursery in an attempt to cash in on a scandi forest nursery fad 5 years too late . They could reasonably open, maybe shorter days (currently 7.30 -6) and keeping kids outdoors in the same bubble of 5 or so.

They won't though, because they are very slow to react to change, and are spending this time doing video challenges and waiting for everything to go back to normal, rather than planning how to work things in a changed world.

And they are almost unique in having a massive forest in the grounds. Not exactly a model that can be followed by many.

So fuck knows, basically.

They might leave it up to the individual setting but make it allowable if safe..... sort of thing. So if a setting can get the kids out of doors a lot, have small numbers and plenty of space then they could open. They've got more flexibility to leave it up to the setting haven't they? Because it's not statutory?
