Where are all the women covid-deciders in UK?

Why does it seem that all the decisions on this (rubbish) Covid response at a national level seem to be by men ? All I am seeing is men doing briefings, men advising on the scientific committees, men on the “war cabinet”.

This seems particularly unjust when the countries with women in charge (New Zealand, Germany, HK, Taiwan, Finland, Denmark) have led a really good covid response

There are less women though involved in the major decisions and that was evident from the big reveal of the SAGE committee . But we don’t have a society in the Uk which supports women enough.
It’s that simple.
Yesterday I watched a parliamentary debate from another European country and I was struck not only by the balance of genders (well actually there were far more women) but also by the content of the discussion. A deep and complex discussion on every issue . The swapping of evidence and observations, each member bringing their expertise and experience to the discussion.
In depth considerations about childcare, about the quality of kindergartens, about things that our bunch of public school boys usually think are below them.
If men and women in society both take equal and I mean , really equal parenting rolls, then it isn’t automatically assumed that the woman will take up the caring role when the shit hits the fan . If both sexes are equally concerned about having to give up work, organise childcare, and so on, then these things have a bigger relevance in debate.
And gender equality in parenting and professional life from conception of a baby onwards , means we have equal representation in parliament.
We have MILES to go.

I was thinking along these lines as well: it’s a pity we have mostly men.
Imo Priti Patel doesn’t count as a decision taking woman, especially in her current situation. Others, yes, but there is strong feeling that they are greatly outnumbered by men.

greenlynx I was just making an observation on the OPs statement that all she sees are men doing the briefings.
