Do you think outdoor children's play areas will open?

Basically this. It's the one thing I am missing for the kids. Just speculating really as to when people think they might open? I mean the ones with equipment like slides etc

I am hoping for this as well. It would making some of the other restrictions bearable for a bit longer.

I guess if you weigh up the risk of opening vs the benefit gained then outdoor play parks would fair quite well? Depends how badly they want to keep children apart but as soon as schools start opening that all goes out the window anyway.

It would make so many parents lives just that little bit easier. I know play groups are not opening any soon (I doubt anyway!) And over summer they don't usually run anyway so I would normally spend a lot of time going to local parks with my 3. If they don't open they will have a more stressed out mum and will run riot even more!!

Unfortunately they don't really get cleaned and children are pretty grim in terms of hygiene so I can't imagine why you would want to take your child to place where lots of other children have had their hands all over the equipment.

I'm not sure they'll be opened that soon as children won't social distance.

DH read in the news we might be allowed picnics from Monday, that cheered DS1 up lots, he's a big picnic fan 😊

I think if they open them whilst the schools are closed, they will be too busy. Unfortunately. Especially in more built up areas.

If they open I won't be using them. How would social distancing be enforced? And if it was (which it wouldn't be) how would it bet cleaned between uses? I don't really know what I hope from next week, maybe a few more shops opened where social distancing could happen. But I won't be taking kids anywhere that social distancing couldn't easily be implemented.

My son is in school ( special) and they are restricting particular outdoor equipment to various groups of children and are only allowing a few at a time on each play area.

I wouldn't take my kids to them if they opened, as they will likely be very busy and kids aren't generally very giod with hygiene or social distancing. But it should be left to parents to decide, we can't all hide forever (I'm just trying to hold off as long as possible).

It's not just the social distancing, it's the cleaning of equipment between one child using it and the next

No, they'll be too much different contact with children. Our local school is looking at use of equipment, ie bringing children's own skipping ropes/other equipment in, races, football rounders, ie things that don't involve contact with equipment and that's when the actually go back.

I hope not until schools do or they'll be absolutely packed. It will be very hard to tell DS he can't go when everyone else is (right by our house so he'll know).

I think they will open them at the same time as primary schools. Social distancing is impossible in playgrounds but that won't make much difference if schools are open too.

I'd love to take mine to the park- but wouldn't even if they opened.

Far too risky for everything said already- plus arguments between adults when their dc get too close/ cough/ push etc.

Plus the older kids/ teens that like to hang around parks, I'm not sure how respectful of rules they would be?

I think it should just be open air outdoor places.

I heard on the radio that’s children’s play areas and gyms will remain closed.
I think its ridiculous, the virus isn’t going anywhere, once we start mixing in anyway the numbers will rise. God open up and give us a slide!

No, they’re so unhygienic. Mucky hands over everything & they hardly get cleaned.

I would say this would be a sensible thing.

And as long as parents socially distance I wouldn't worry too much about the kids.

If you want to get schools back then surely this is a little thing that can be done 1st.
