Chilblains (and COVID toe)

Hiya,

A couple of weeks ago I made a post to bemoan my bloody chilblains. I couldn't understand it, though I've had them before, I don't usually get them consistently for a month, just as the weather warms up.

So I called my doctor, just to check that there wasn't some greater circulatory thing going on. She almost laughed as she told me that she'd seen "a lot of that recently", and told me about COVID Toe: www.bbc.com/news/amp/health-52493574

She said that if she had to guess she'd say it was that - based on the fact I felt mildly under the weather for a week prior to the chilblains (just a bit glandular, like I was fighting off a cold that never came).

Anyone else got horrifying toes and the slight frustration that we might never know if that's us done with COVID?

Yes there was a thread on here a couple of weeks ago about this. Many have had the same sort of thing. My dd14 had it, the skin is all peeling on her toes now🙄

It's pretty horrid.

Of course I feel very grateful if it is coronavirus and this is my worst symptom. On the other hand, my toes have been so sore for about three weeks now, if it's not CV I feel like I should be getting the doctor to look into circulation issues.

My toes have gone through the red to purple stage twice since mid March , just when one set went purple (and so hurt less) a second set arrived.

Was your DD reasonably well otherwise?

Bumping this - I have been scratching my big toe all day and wondering why I had a chilblain ... and then the penny dropped. How are you now @NotMyUsualNameNoSiree?

I get intensely itchy toes and then small watery blisters appear. Eventually the skin dries out and falls off. It’s dishydrotic eczema people “pompholyx”. If I’m really stressed it turns up on my hands as well.

I almost certainly had Covid, (according to my doctor) and Covid toes was one of my symptoms. The difference between my toes and yours is that I'd never had chilblains before, and it went away after a few days.

Definitely go back to your GP if it's persisting because it might be something else.
