Do you have an pulse oximeter?

I'm looking to buy one for obvious reasons, but don't know which one to get. Argos are sold out everywhere, which I expected.

These two seem to have good ratings on Amazon. Price doesn't really matter, but no point in spending the extra if the top one will do the same thing?

I need one that will do children too as my DD's have weaker lungs due to prematurity.

I bought one off argos for £29.90. Its something I've been going to buy for sometime due to DH's snoring and likely sleep apnoea, not just due to CV. The one from argos is complete crap though and I will be returning it as soon as they allow returns. The reasons being:

• clearly used! Scratches on it and no protective plastic to peel off
• No accurate in the slightest! Readings show 90-95% for both DH and myself. Neither of us have any respiratory issues, and I'm a nurse, so know for sure that I'm normally 98-99%!!!

We bought one from Amazon the other day. It arrived quickly, does the job fine and so far, our oxygen levels are fine!

I've got the blue one. It was 12.99 when I got it before lockdown!

It seems to work effectively, although DD who is a martyr to her cold clammy hands sometimes gets erroneously low readings. They go up if the warms them up though.

We got this one from Amazon on Saturday and it works really well so would recommend it. Looked at cheaper ones but they were taking ages for delivery as were coming from China.

I have the second one in your picture. It was £14.99 in February. Definitely glad I got It! seems pretty accurate although pulse readings can jump about a bit, oxygen readings are fine. I use it for everyone including 10 year old DC. Overall would certainly recommend.

We bought one a few weeks ago from amazon. It was about £15, I chose the one I bought because my friend did some research and found it to be a reliable one. DH is medical so we tried it on arrival and he was happy with it. I hope we don't need it but I’m glad we have it just in case.

Check your phone before you buy one. Some have an oximeter feature. I don't know now accurate it is compared to a hospital one but it is useful to compare a baseline. I have a samsung note 9 and it has this feature under the stress test in samsung health.

I got the white one mentioned by @Pandemonium27 above. (It was cheaper a few weeks ago but I suppose that's to be expected these days...). Definitely worthwhile, even just for peace of mind. Am sure it'll be useful in the future too, post-pandemic.

I bought one about 7 years ago when Ds had bad asthma problems. Have taken average stats for the household over 2 weeks, (and noted them in case they're needed)

I got the same as pandemonium27 a couple of weeks ago - it was about £25 when I bought it though!

Mine looks similar to @Pandemonium27 's, although is white and pink, and it only cost us £10 in March. We both have asthma, and our GP surgery was recommended getting one back then.

Honestly, I'm more confused by it than reassured. The numbers keep jumping up and down a lot (like inbetween 99 and 71 pretty damn quick?!), and I worry it's a cheap piece of shit that's not actually of any help.

You need to put your finger quite far in so the correct part is on the sensor.

Even in hospitals this is a problem. Ds was hooked up to one day & night that set off an alarm if it dropped below a certain number & it went off all the time

Dammit - looks like I should have bought mine a few weeks ago! 😂 Still, I don’t mind being ripped off slightly if it means peace of mind for me and my family, especially as my two ds’s have asthma.

Thanks @buckeejit - I'll try to pay more attention to that. Just ever so slightly moving the finger does seem to make it jump around quite a bit. DH doesn't have this issue, so really it must be me and not the gadget.

I bought mine off Amazon 6 years ago and it is brill, still going strong. It looks the same as your top pic, though in my order history I see the brand is 'biosync', I cannot tell if it is definitely the same one. I paid £16 for mine.

I'm got my of Amazon for 15 or so and it's good. In Jan my husband was very unwell with cough cold.thing and thanks.to that I caught his oxygen levels going down to 94 percent. He's very dramatic when he is I'll and I hope it as being man flu but this time I took. Him to hospital and it was a bacterial pneumonia taking hold. So a course of antibiotics and he was.fine. glad we had it.

My phone has one, if you have a smartphone, check to see if it has one, most of the newer Samsung have them via the health app.
