When the kids go to school, can we relax uniform a bit

Just this, when the kids return to school, lots of us are in a precarious financial position.
Can schools please relax the rules.
Senior kids don’t need to swelter in blazers anymore.
Uniform won’t fit, and shops have been/ are closed

Our schools are not too strict with uniform.

Primary kids wear
black trousers/skirt/pinafore
shirt/polo shirt
Black shoes

Secondary school
Black trousers/skirt
Shirt and school tie
Black shoe

The one thing that sticks out for me is those schools with rules about hairstyles. They will surely need to relax those rules because I think schools will go back before hairdressers reopen.

My child has grown at least 3 inches during lockdown. His trousers will look ridiculous and I'd just bought a new blazer, which will now be halfway up his arms.

For those who need shoes, a free print out measuring gauge so you won't need to order the wrong size.

I think people are sounding a little over the top about the level of emergency associated with going back early June (if it happens) and uniform. Just use what you can, and fill in the gaps if possible. Schools will be as helpful as they can be- Im guessing yes a little relaxed. If you're worried about the risk, I imagine most schools will understand continued home schooling.

Gosh, yes some flexibility would be great, at least until the end of the calendar year.

My DC's feet are definitely growing and I don't want to spend money on shoes for possibly a last handful of days at primary school. I know they need uniform but until there's a start date I don't want to order as I suspect my teen is having a growth spurt too. By the time there's a start date everyone else will be ordering....

It would be great if there were a mass revolt on this so that in effect headteachers who demand very strict compliance had no choice but to relax the rules. I suspect school staff would be really quite relieved if they didn't have to waste hours dealing with nonsense like whether children have the right make of shoe.

Here’s hoping.
Round here the comps and 70% of the primaries have got school shirts, (logoed) school skirts (logoed) cardigan/pullover logoed) blazer (logoed) for one of each of these items you’re looking at close to £100
It’s bonkers.
Why not a plain shirt or polo in a particular colour and a pullover/cardi/sweatshirt in a particular colour.
That’s all you need with bottoms again in black/grey/navy and can be picked up in any supermarket easily for under 30 quid for multipaxksc

There would be something very concerning about schools being allowed back before opening hairdressers was deemed safe Confused

Boomclaps · 03/05/2020 09:22

I’ve got no idea what that lady word is. Was meant to be “multipacks”

Boomclaps · 03/05/2020 09:23

Last not lady I give up 😩🤦‍♀️

Our school will have to loosen up on haircuts. Ds hair has grown a couple of inches and apart from keeping it out of his eyes, he won’t let me near it.
There’s going to be a mammoth queue at the barbers Grin
