I'm the opposite. I've never had long hair before, even as a kid. So I'm embracing my longer locks. And embracing the grey. Actually enjoying the grey more than the longer hair, I've committed to ditching the dye and going grombre.

@Clevererthanyou

I've got the same kind of alopecia, it's at a stage it can be disguised with a lot of effort but tempted to just shave it all of right now too. What's left is a thin, scraggly mess anyway.

I had to look up grombre - I’m liking it lots! And think I’ll join you Brew

I’m already well on the way due to lock down, so now’s a good as time as any Grin

Ginger it’s the time and effort to use the scraggly bits left to cover up the scalp that really gets me down tbh the stares and comments get old quickly too 🤨 if you just shave it off people seem to know better than to stare or comment.

I had a shaved head when I was in my early 20s. I must admit that I looked absolutely gorgeous. I loved it.
I would definitely not do it again as I am not pretty or thin enough now to carry it off.
What you do need to think of is that it takes FOREVER to grow out and looks awful when you are doing it. Please think very carefully before you shave. It is quite a commitment.

I've considered it too. I bought some clippers and have cut my DH and sons' hair moderately successfully and I have considered getting rid of all my own. I have got long, and ridiculously thick hair and it has been getting really out of control as unfortunately I already badly needed a hair cut before the lockdown started it. One night last week when I couldn't sleep because it was too warm and DH kept rolling on my hair all night I very nearly got up and shaved it off in desperation. But I haven't got the nerve, and I think I'm too old. I also have a large surgical scar that I prefer to be hidden. Plus when I was a student I had very short hair and actually found it more trouble than long, as it needed trimming so often. I've cut my fringe though, and hacked loads out with a pair of thinning scissors. So it is a bit better, but not ideal.

Shaved both my son's heads in the garden, and just left the hair on the ground, and some little creature seems to have taken the hair, mixed it with mud and built some sort of nest out of it on the brick work. Quite small, so I'm guessing it's an insect. Strangest thing. I've brushed it off with a broom and couldn't see anything. Just very odd.

Oh god, not for me. I’d look like a tomato sitting on top of a weeble!

MrsAvocet
Try googling pony tail haircuts maybe?
