Please can you tell me what you think to this. Daughter was staying in her sport because we had paid for national competitions .Anyway when the gym closed I withdrew the direct debit mainly because the club was chaotic (General parental consensus.)Obviously I thought the competitions would be cancelled (March ,May and June) Anyway the direct debit is a set amount each month. Two weeks as such were missed in April and the Coach is saying these will be made up at 'Bootcamp' in the half term. This is unlikely to happen .Should the coach reimburse me if these sessions don't go ahead .I appreciate if they do go ahead I wont be reimbursed .The Coach is also using the competition money (Reimbursed by National Gymnastics to cover April ,May and June Direct debits .I presume this is so notice period is covered for those who stop direct debit .Is this legal? moral? What are your thoughts. Thankyou.

I assume your DD was only staying at the club until the June competition had been done. But I think you have made this more complicated than it needs to be.

You cancelled the DD for your DD's gymnastics when they closed. You had already paid ahead for competitions which, because they were cancelled, were refunded to the club.

If you gave notice when you cancelled the DD, then I suspect the money should have come back to you. If you did not tell them that your DD was no longer competing with the club, they have assumed she is and have kept the refund towards her normal fees. Morally I think this is wrong but I don't know the legal angle on it.
