Wales hopes to end lockdown

I’ve just seen on the News that Wales hopes to end lockdown after the current 3 weeks are up with some kind of traffic light system.

I wonder if this will be the case across the U.K? And when we will find out what each traffic light involves?

I.e. in Red will we be allowed back to work and school?

I'm Welsh!! 😊 Sorry... Haha xx

HeresMe · 25/04/2020 09:37

You only have to look at google maps or drive through Wales to see most of it is fields for goodness sake. 65% urban my are. *

If it's mostly fields obviously people are housed in urban areas otherwise there would be houses in said fields.

Sorry I got excited somebody mentioned Wales! 😊 Problem is we will hear all sorts of different things now! And it's hard to know what to believe! :(

"If it's mostly fields obviously people are housed in urban areas otherwise there would be houses in said fields."
Of course there are. People will have heard on the news about the police trying to stop people going to their second homes in Wales. There are tonnes of 2nd properties in Wales, so out of season, a lot of towns and villages are extremely quiet.

"Wales are bringing in tighter restrictions from tomorrow meaning that people can’t drive to exercise"
No, I think they are saying you just have to keep local.

Gwenhwyfar · 25/04/2020 09:52

Wales is likely to do the same as England. What the WG has said is that if England leaves lockdown too early, Wales might not. The rural areas of Wales are behind London in terms of infection so the peak will come later. All areas need to have peaked before lockdown is raised.

Tabby - if you think you know better than the ONS you're a complete idiot.

TabbyMumz · 25/04/2020 09:53

"Same thing though? You can't make a sweeping statement about Wales based on driving through it."
Foam rolling......its not the same thing at all. You have misunderstood. I said "you only have to drive through it.."...not I have only driven through it.

"Tabby - if you think you know better than the ONS you're an idiot."

Gwen...so you think Wales is all urban too,?

Unihorn · 25/04/2020 09:58

Wales hasn't been doing the same as England throughout, they did only limit exercise to once a day and banned driving to exercise. Drakeford has said from the beginning that he would be as strict as necessary. Education is devolved for a start and Wales announced school closures before England, so I disagree with others that they will just follow what England do.

I can sort of see what Tabby is saying in a way. I live in a large town but it's only about a 10 minute walk to secluded hills and parks. Even in Cardiff and Swansea, you don't really need to walk too far (relatively speaking I suppose) to get to somewhere quieter for walks.

I'm sorry I misinterpreted your statement 'You only have to look at google maps or drive through Wales to see most of it is fields for goodness sake. 65% urban my ar*e.' to mean that you only have to drive through Wales or look at Google maps to get an understanding of where the population is centred. I can now see that you meant something else entirely.

I’m working from home at the moment. I’m worried that when lockdown is ended I will have to go back into the office to using crammed public transport and will be putting my vulnerable DH at risk. I wish there was a way of knowing at what point on the traffic light system the advice to work from home will change.
