Social distancing in nurseries

How on earth would it happen? I know they’re likely to try it in schools, but how would it happen in a nursery? Nappies have to be changed for a start! And how can you keep under 5s away from each other?!

It won't, hopefully they will swap staff around so higher risk staff are placed eslewhere bt they can't really do muhj else

OnlyJudyCanJudgeMe · 23/04/2020 21:29

It just doesn’t happen. The staff just need to be extra vigilant with cleaning & hand washing. Anyone with even tiny symptoms get sent home immediately.

CathyandHeathcliff · 23/04/2020 21:35

@OnlyJudyCanJudgeMe little ones are ill constantly, it’ll be a nightmare long term!

I can't see how it will work in schools either.

ChrissieKeller61 · 23/04/2020 21:37

No chance. The staffing bill would double and parents won’t pay the difference. Nursery staff are going to be on the front line for minimum wage. No thank you

GoldenPoppy · 23/04/2020 21:45

I'm a nursery nurse and severe asthmatic, just one course of steroids away from the shield list, my doctor has strongly suggested yhat I am very careful so Ive not left my home since lockdown.
I've been informed that once lockdown ends its business as usual.
There will be no ppe as it could scare the children, and no extra measures can be put in place. I love my job and the children I work with, but dont know if the risk is worth it.

Piixxiiee · 23/04/2020 21:50

Just as it isn't happening now. Schools arent all social distancing. I work in a special school- nappies have to be changed....

Nochangeplease · 23/04/2020 22:01

I really don’t want to go back to work for minimum wage to be honest. I won’t enjoy it, I’ll be on edge and it’s going to effect the way I interact with the children.

Icequeen01 · 23/04/2020 22:17

I agree with @Piixxiiee - I work in an SEN school which has stayed open with all children still attending. Even though we are a very small school there is no way we can carry out social distancing due to the nature of our children.

WheresTheEvidence · 23/04/2020 22:36

I am still working in a nursery and yes it is hard but we have stopped parents coming I to settings, then wash hands immediately of the children, we have upped our cleaning, we use pipe for nappy changing we are more aware of space and utilising it effectively. Children who are I'll are sent home. But still lots of cuddles, and interaction.

OnlyJudyCanJudgeMe · 23/04/2020 22:36

Yeah it will @CathyandHeathcliff
Normality is a long, LONG way off.
