Would a wee in the woods spread the virus?

Pinkginhelps · 23/04/2020 18:14

I can't hold my bladder for very long but really enjoy my daily walks. I often walk in woods with hardly any other people around. Would it spread the virus (if I had it and didn't know), if I was to do a quick wee whilst out walking in the woods?

Hmm
Maxandezra · 23/04/2020 20:00

shits really, ready salted AND leaning on a tree????? Have you any idea how many that would kill????

Shitsgettingcrazy · 23/04/2020 20:15

Maxandezra I imagine, countless. Not sure I could squat unsupported though Grin

However, I don't do box jumps on benches so feel that evens it out

Maxandezra · 23/04/2020 20:44

shits Well maybe if you had been doing a few more box jumps on all those benches instead of using them to sit on WHILST EATING CRISPS you would be able to squat unsupported. I think that is where you've sadly gone wrong.

Topseyt · 23/04/2020 21:28

Just enjoy a good wee if you want to. Who is going to breathe it in or lick it up?

vera99 · 23/04/2020 21:31

Hopefully, those doggers will have shut up shop or been furloughed.

POP7777777 · 23/04/2020 21:40

Only if someone licked it up, I would imagine.

Sparticuscaticus · 24/04/2020 04:25

Someone above from pathology has just said yes urine spreads it.

Please don't do this
It's all heaps of gross

This is very true.

I may start being very virtuous and do some box jumps. 100% know it won't result in injury. Grin

MamaFrey29 · 24/04/2020 05:21

WTF

NO

Shitsgettingcrazy · 24/04/2020 05:26

Someone above from pathology has just said yes urine spreads it.

So how would someone catch it, from someone's wee?

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/04/2020 05:27

No. Actual scientific data. Urine might contain the virus. It is absolutely not a way for the virus to spread. Think of it as a baton in a relay race. Cough and breathe, passing person picks up the baton. Who the fuck is licking up urine behind a tree. No one, that's who.

Wee your heart out. Now they've closed the loos at my local running destination, I'm looking at trees longingly.

Honeybee85 · 24/04/2020 05:28

I think if it were that contagious there would be a lot more cases as everyone who would use a toilet outside their own home would be at risk.

Kokeshi123 · 24/04/2020 05:43

I think it is found in urine, but non-crowded outdoor environments are incredibly low risk. Just move right off the path to pee (most women would do that anyway!). You can always put some soil on it afterwards if you are still worried.

nether · 24/04/2020 06:43

"So how would someone catch it, from someone's wee?"

If you were a carer for someone incontinent, or were touching fomites created by an incontinent person (laundry? Or anything they'd touched after changing clothes? Or an HCP doing urine dips. Or a lab worker handling samples

It's not a major route of transmission as in most such circs, people would wash their hands. And no one wants to confuse the main droplet message by talking about other, minor/theoretical routes.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 24/04/2020 06:48

@nether but than that could be argued that the problem there is lack of hygiene.

Not disagreeing with you. You could catch it that way.

But people (not aimed at you) who get so upset at people peeing in woodland, sitting on benches etc, seem to forget that the problem in all these scenarios are people not following the hygiene advice.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/04/2020 06:58

Well seeing as dogs and all manner of wild animals wee in the woods, I don't see what difference the odd human wee makes. Anyone foraging should assume that wild garlic etc could have been pissed on by an animal and give it a good wash anyway.

If you need a wilderness wee, OP, have one. I wouldn't be put off by the thought of people licking or eating things in the woods as that's easily avoided.

Pinkginhelps · 24/04/2020 08:27

Thanks for your thoughts.

I was thinking that if I did a wee and had the virus, someone else's dog would do what dogs do and come along and sniff it. Then, the wee would be on that dog's nose. That dog then licks it's coat or, worse, gives it's owner's face a big , doggy lick and bingo, I've just spread the virus.

So, as my bladder can't be repaired in current situation, should I avoid the woods? Or, use a she wee? I assume that you take the pee home and flush it?

You think I'm being daft but remember the first super spreader who came home from ski-ing? They suggested that he wasn't cleaning his hands properly after using the loo....

RhymingRabbit3 · 24/04/2020 08:34

Even if it may be spread by urine, if you go off the beaten track a bit then the chances of someone coming into contact with your wee are very slim, arent they?

angelcakebananabrain · 24/04/2020 10:10

@Pinkginhelps a shewee is just a funnel to help you direct the pee, it doesn’t collect it as far as I know although of course you could funnel it into a bottle and take that home.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 24/04/2020 10:15

I would be so upset if my dog passed me corona from sniffing your wee.....poor dpup.

sanealaddin · 24/04/2020 10:23

Just have a wee. I can't believe anyone thinks this wouldn't be ok!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 24/04/2020 10:35

I agree. A wee in a bush off the beaten track is not going to spread the virus. It's just not. Get some perspective.

Maxandezra · 24/04/2020 10:57

pink maybe you should consider purchasing some incontinence pads/pants. Although not sure that would technically count as essential shopping as it isn't really essential for you to walk in the woods. You could just stay at home. Near the toilet.

Pinkginhelps · 24/04/2020 12:04

@Maxandezra yup. Could stay at home (and save lives) but I might go slightly bonkers and the dog definitely would!
I'll try to find some incontinence pads. Or maybe those re-usable knickers.
Have you tried them? has anyone tried them? And if I do, would I need to isolate them before using them and if so, for how long? I just read that washing at 60 degrees doesn't kill the virus.
