Would it help to 'see' Boris?

I know he is, rightfully, recovering but just thinking a video message would help cheer us all along and keep people on track with the Govt message?

he may have seen the light now,and have a new and better attitude to all things.

I hope this too but I doubt this is possible. In the end it will always be money, nationalism, and Tory vested interests that Boris operates according to. As exemplified by the fact that he is still determined to do the deal with the EU by December despite the fact that no one anywhere has any bandwidth for this right now.

pigsDOfly · 23/04/2020 14:04

Why on earth would seeing that odious man 'cheer us along'?

Violetparis · 23/04/2020 14:07

Yes, so he can be held to account for the decisions he made in the early stages of the pandemic.

loobyloo1234 · 23/04/2020 14:08

No thanks

Inacountrygarden · 23/04/2020 14:09

Please no

Bluntness100 · 23/04/2020 14:10

Yes, op there are a lot of labour supporters but a huge percentage of the population voted for him, so I would assume they want to see him back in the chair.

To be honest, I’m surprised he’s went so absent for such a long time, I thought he’d do the occasional video message. He’s totally went to ground and the rumours are this will continue till the 11 may.

Bluntness100 · 23/04/2020 14:10

Sorry should say a lot of labour supporters on here.

TartanTexan · 23/04/2020 14:19

Why has he gone to ground? Despite being ill gave a post ICU conversation...

Lumene · 23/04/2020 14:19

Who would that help? And how?

TheThingWithFeathers · 23/04/2020 14:24

I don't want to see him unless he is announcing his resignation.

Sosadandempty · 23/04/2020 14:39

a lot of labour supporters on here

I don’t think people’s feelings about Johnson and the handling of the pandemic are determined by their party affiliation.

Sosadandempty · 23/04/2020 14:39

About not and

user1495884620 · 23/04/2020 14:48

I would hope that most people voted for the party with policies that they believed were best (or least worst) for this county rather than for Johnson himself.

user1495884620 · 23/04/2020 14:50

Facepalm - country not county.

maddy68 · 23/04/2020 14:50

I think we've suffered enough tbh

pfrench · 23/04/2020 15:00

Hell no. He could disappear up his own arse for all I care. The very worst type of human.

Maduixa · 23/04/2020 15:00

He's being a good example at the moment, taking the advised time to rest and avoid not just physical strain but mental/emotional stress. I like to imagine concerned spouses up and down the country lecturing their recovering workaholic partners: "if the PM can take three weeks off, so can you!!"

SamSeabornforPresident · 23/04/2020 15:07

God no. But then I'm in Scotland and we have a leader. But even if I wasn't, no. No. No.

Hayfevered · 23/04/2020 15:18

Gosh, yes. Just like the Queen delivering a string of carefully-checked clichés about pulling together, with a sour expression that says ‘A flunky made me do this’, makes all of us little people wave our little Union jacks and emit a faint cheer for good ol’ Blighty.

justanotherneighinparadise · 23/04/2020 15:21

They’ll wheel him out when a new message is needed.

BeardedMum · 23/04/2020 15:21

No it really would not cheer me up at all

RainMustFall · 23/04/2020 15:26

Why can't you let the poor bloke recuperate in peace? I'm sure he will be back to the daily reports as soon as he is well enough. How does seeing him help?

Hayfevered · 23/04/2020 15:39

How does seeing him help?

His air of leaderly integrity, intelligence, compassion and profound capacity for putting the needs of the country before party politics?

Oh, hang on.

siriusmew · 23/04/2020 15:53

How would it help?

The government implementing a huge testing, contact tracing and local quarantining programme, as well as as adequately protecting its frontline workers, being honest about the number of people who have died at home as well as in care homes from the virus and the reasons why, and not letting people fall through the welfare cracks, would however make me feel more at ease

^^ This would be of more help

YouAndMeAndTheDevilMakesThree · 23/04/2020 16:56

Agreed. And I'm no Boris fan. Surely seeing the amount of time that he is out of action should help some people take the disease more seriously.
