Does anyone know how?

ClientQ · 22/04/2020 21:34

Go back to the gov vulnerable form and refill it but put no help with food

SpudleyLass · 22/04/2020 21:35

huh?

NaturalBornWoman · 22/04/2020 21:57

You have to put need help with food to access the supermarket priority list for delivery slots, but this then triggers the govt food parcels. I just refused mine at the door, but not sure if they’ll come back again.

ExclamationPerfume · 22/04/2020 22:11

Contact your local council. They should be the ones organising it.

Ferfecksackmammy · 22/04/2020 22:18

Text stopbox to 07860064525. I'm in Scotland so might be different where you are.

adelaya · 23/04/2020 08:54

They tried reregistering but still keep getting them. No one knocks, they’re just left
I’ll get them to try that number, might be different as were in England

@spudleylass what’s the huh for?

OP posts:
whatdoyoudonow · 23/04/2020 09:00

What's in this food parcel? Why don't you want it?

adelaya · 23/04/2020 09:03

It’s not mine it’s a friend. They don’t want it because they simply don’t need it. They have reoccurring deliveries and would rather it went to some one who does need it.

OP posts:
adelaya · 23/04/2020 09:05

It’s the standard gov box comes with tins industrial loo roll, potatoes, apples rice pasta tea coffee uht milk etc

Food bank?

anniegun · 23/04/2020 09:10

The boxes have instructions that say to stop the parcels, re-register and select yes to the question "do you have a way of getting essential supplies delivered at the moment" . Alternatively you can refuse at delivery which should allow them to be redirected to someone else

ExclamationPerfume · 23/04/2020 09:19

As I said above it will be your local council who you need to call.

Ragwort · 23/04/2020 09:21

I run a Food Bank and we have been given loads of excess food from the Government Food Boxes .... one is delivered weekly to a neighbour who has died Hmm.

TooDamnSarky · 23/04/2020 09:25

Can you put a large sign up to be seen by the delivery person?

millymaple · 23/04/2020 10:14

Give it to a food bank?

millymaple · 23/04/2020 10:14

They have reoccurring deliveries and would rather it went to some one who does need it.

I would actually advise them to keep it, because the supermarkets don’t have everything you order and this will guarantee them some basics.

Baaaahhhhh · 23/04/2020 10:23

GP's have tried cancelling theirs several times, but no joy. Still being delivered and they don't want it, the contents are pretty awful. The neighbour is collecting it for them from the front door, and taking it to the food bank.

adelaya · 23/04/2020 10:35

We have taken most of it to a food bank for them. It just seems a bit Unnecessary if they don’t need it to keep receiving them.

OP posts:
BlueBrian · 23/04/2020 10:43

i'm just keeping mine, the fresh stuff like the fruit and veggies are useful, some of the cans not so much, anything long lasting I don't use I'll just donate when all this has calmed down.

onlinelinda · 23/04/2020 10:51

I had a phone call and just refused it. It never arrived. You can stop it on the government website too.

The boxes have instructions that say to stop the parcels, re-register and select yes to the question "do you have a way of getting essential supplies delivered at the moment" That's the problem, isn't it? You have to say "no" to get on to the supermarket priority delivery slot lists. So if you say "no" to get a supermarket slot, you get a box that you don't need. And if you say "yes" you don't get the box, but you don't get a supermarket slot either.

Yes, as I said earlier in the thread. I now have priority access to both Ocado who I was already a customer of, and Sainsburys who I’ve never used for online shopping. I won’t use the Sainsburys slots obviously, and given I now have access to the food we need I don’t need free rations either. It’s a bit silly.
