Who else hasn't had to wash their hair as often?

Ive found that since I've been at home the past few weeks I haven't had to wash my hair any where near as often.

In the past i had to wash my hair almost daily as it would feel itchy and greasy not long after washing. Since working from home and not leaving the house it just feels clean, im only washing it weekly. No itchiness or greasiness in between.

Has anybody else found this has been a plus side of lockdown? It makes me wonder how bad the air outside must be to affect my hair and scalp as much as it usually does - or maybe im just over thinking things

I have found that too!

Viviennemary · 19/04/2020 19:38

Mine is looking extra awful. Second day usually ok now really greasy.

Aquamarine1029 · 19/04/2020 19:39

My experience exactly. I've only been washing my hair every third day, and even then it still feels clean.

JoeySpecial · 19/04/2020 19:40

Definitely less greasy that it normally is. I wonder why? I drive, so don't have to face too much air pollution generally.

RigaBalsam · 19/04/2020 19:51

I wash mine everyday or its a knotty mess and I feel dirty.

Hedgehog26 · 19/04/2020 19:53

Could it be the air con in your workplace?

midgebabe · 19/04/2020 19:56

Traffic I think

saltinesandcoffeecups · 19/04/2020 20:03

I get sweaty with exercise (rowing) every morning so haven’t changed my habits. Cannot go more than one day without washing.

BlueGheko · 19/04/2020 20:04

I drive, so don't have to face too much air pollution generally.

Air pollution levels are often higher inside your car than outside, from the surrounding vehicles particularly those in front.

Definitely washing my hair less, used to be daily now sometimes every 3 days but that could be because I've had it up in a permanent bun but am guessing in general just less pollution, dust and grime from the outside world.

thenightsky · 19/04/2020 20:05

I've found I now only need to wash on the 3rd or 4th day, whereas it was every other day before lockdown. Can't be air pollution as I live very rurally. Odd Confused

Capodimonte · 19/04/2020 20:06

We dont have air con in work as its only a small office. Im really thinking it must be the pollution in the air outside. If it does that to your hair imagine what its doing to your lungs.

Another plus point has been not wearing make up. I feel like my skin looks a lot younger, less fine wrinkles (although it could have been the make up sitting in the wrinkles!) - which is great as Im 40 soon, so maybe if i stay inside forever ill stay young Grin

I've been washing mine slightly more often than usual but that's because mine can last 7-10 days and is very thick and I wear it in a top knot a lot, so I usually don't wash it myself but go to the salon for a blow dry 2-3 times a month.

Now I've got to do it myself I've been washing it every 5 days and trying out all sorts of air-drying techniques (which have all resulted in me looking like Crystal Tipps). I cannot WAIT for a blow dry!!!

Boredbumhead · 19/04/2020 20:11

Yes for sure

MrsSnitchnose · 19/04/2020 20:15

@Viviennemary me too, perhaps because I touch it a lot more without work to keep my hands busy

swapsicles · 19/04/2020 20:19

I'm washing hair about once a week, might be because I'm not looking in the mirror so much as I'm not putting a full face of make up on and messing with my hair to get it neat and tidy for work
I'm obviously brushing it at least once daily and cleaning my face but that's it, I don't need a mirror for that and so if it's greasy I don't notice!

Capodimonte · 19/04/2020 20:28

Thats a good point actually. I usually wear my hair down for work, so obviously theres more touching it and moving it if it gets in my face. Ive never been one to use products on my hair though, so it wouldn't have been anything else.

The difference in my scalp is amazing though. When i say it used to get itchy, i meant as in lots of dry skin and clumps that i could pick out - that sounds really dirty i know, but i did wash it often, it was actual skin

No, I am still washing it every day otherwise it just does not feel clean

Deelish75 · 19/04/2020 20:34

Yes, I normally wash, dry and straighten it almost daily, now because I'm tying it up all the time it only needs washing twice a week.

dementedma · 19/04/2020 20:35

Washing mine twice a week. No make up other than for conference calls twice a week. Skin and hair both look and feel ok

SophieB100 · 19/04/2020 20:59

Mine is washed once a week and stuck up in a messy scrunchie do. Gorgeous it is! Not.
Before I was washing it every other day and straightening it.
I was due a hair cut before Boris grounded us, so I had to cancel.
I suppose the condition is a bit better, but it doesn't matter because no one but the cat can see it anyway.

lifestooshort123 · 19/04/2020 21:45

Not washing hair as often, not painting nails, no make up (apart from eyebrows otherwise I become invisible) and cosy hairy legs but I've drawn the line at the moustache - yay!

VanGoghsDog · 19/04/2020 21:49

Yes, washing it less. Partly because noone sees me and I don't care, but it is also fine for three days. No pollution, no make up, no air con, no styling and no product. Doing it the world of good I think.

AnotherMurkyDay · 19/04/2020 21:49

No more black bath water the trains, or black bogies for that matter

AnotherMurkyDay · 19/04/2020 21:50

From catching trains sorry

Annarosez · 19/04/2020 21:55

Washing it more because of an irrational worry that I might get Coronavirus particles on it (just as you can with any surface) and then rub my eyes after touching my hair etc... urgh.
