Preparing for the winter phase of Covid-19

All indications suggest if we manage to ride out the peak of this phase of coronavirus and cases drop, we’ll see another peak, most likely winter, and that peak could be even worse (as was the case with past pandemics like Spanish Flu).

Have any of you thought about how you’ll prep for this with the knowledge you have now?

keep a healthy weight.

"analysis of 15,100 hospitalised patients from across the UK has identified how carrying excess weight increases the likelihood that severe complications will develop from Covid-19"

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/04/18/overweight-can-lead-serious-coronavirus-hospital-admissions/

Study not published yet though.

So the Daily Fail can't even agree with itself?

It only publishes what is most likely to generate outrage! One day: “how dare people sit on a park bench, they’re literally killing people”, and the next “we must exit lockdown now - it’s only the flu!”

The main thing I think is if there's indications of a 2nd lockdown, DC and I will self-isolate for 14 days then move in with my parents because they have a garden and their house backs on to the South Downs. DC1 (very active just turned 4 year old boy) is not coping well at all in a flat, he spends a lot of time saying "I'm so angry" and regularly punches DH Sad

(They live 10 mins drive away in the same town so we'd not be using up rural health services etc)

I wonder if this is connected to low Vitamin D too - don't people with more fat struggle to maintain levels? I say this as someone who is overweight and who has issues with Vit D so needs supplements all year round. When mine drops low, I get everything going quite severely.

Has anyone got any idea when the second wave will be (and therefore the lockdown?)

Empty the shed/Harry Potter cupboard. Waterproof shed completely. Then start prepping. By filling spaces mainly biscuits and Christmas presents. Grin

Jokes aside, I'm a low level prepper anyway, I'm just going to kick it up a notch and stick festive reindeer antlers on it.

I'll keep up with pretty much what I've done this time. I eat better and exercised more to keep my immune system at it's peak and generally keep fit. Also, I've taken a vitamin tablet every food days as a boost. All of those aren't wasted as they're good for me anyway.

I've always got a good stash in anyway, but started buying extras in February in case we had to isolate/items ran out due to panic buying. I intend to keep those extras, just rotating them with new sell by dates. They're all items we use so won't be wasted.
