Numbers have not increased today?

I was expecting a massive increase in total deaths today. I thought we were still lagging behind from the weekend still and that today we were going to have a total jump in figures but no?

I’m really happy, of course! This is amazing news and I hope it stays this way. I’ve always been very optimistic anyway but this really had got my hopes up.

Is this a good sign? Number of cases has decreased too but they were flattening anyway.

Yes @Rosalie49 I am for real. I'll rephrase - I'm not sure over 700 deaths is a reason to be really happy!

Naillig222 · 15/04/2020 19:53

Are UK figures including deaths in nursing homes?

stuckindoors77 · 15/04/2020 19:58

Yes @Rosalie49 I am for real. I'll rephrase - I'm not sure over 700 deaths is a reason to be really happy!

No but the fact that it isn't more than that is, I think you knew what the OP meant and are choosing to be offended here really Hmm

stuckindoors77 · 15/04/2020 19:59

And yes op as I look at the graphs I see reasons for cautious optimism. Let's hope it continues that way.

@DaphneFanshaw that is a good sign indeed and I’m so so sorry to hear about your loved one. My thoughts go out to you and your familyFlowers

@Derbygerbil it was on today’s daily briefing during the interview part. Yeah, I think because normally we see a drop on the Monday and then it increases on the Tuesday so since we had the 4 day weekend I expected a drop Monday and Tuesday and then to see an increase today but nope - looks like the increase will come tomorrow. I agree, some people do read too much into them and sadly I’m one of them. I just want this to be over as I’m sure everyone else does and the slightest decrease in anything I’m into it! Silly really but at least the number of cases is flattening out.

@SteeperThanHell I’m not happy that there has been over 700 deaths, why would I be? I agree with @stuckindoors77 you really are choosing to be offended here. In comparison to previous days where 900+ people have died, I am happy that that number seemed to be decreasing and not increasing. Even if it was 1 or 20 deaths it’s still awful!

I think elsewhere the care Home deaths increased over time so the hospital numbers are not giving the full picture.

CokeEnStock · 15/04/2020 21:07

I don't believe the UK figures to be fair. Everywhere else the numbers Of people entering hospital when up and up,,then the deaths, then finally numbers of people leaving hospital started to be less than those entering, deaths still high, as the time to die can be up to a month.

CokeEnStock · 15/04/2020 21:07

Pleas excuse my typing 😬

DaphneFanshaw · 15/04/2020 21:37

Thanks @Roasalie49it sounds silly but it was such a shock to have something like this happen to us.
I didn’t want this to happen to other people, it just seemed to be something that happens to other people. Such a cliche.
Anyway, let’s hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Frances death rate numbers for today.......wow!

France includes deaths from care homes in its statistics.

Butternutbrownie · 16/04/2020 08:17

I'm not sure the hospital admissions can be relied on either. The threshold for actually being adnitted seems to have gone up. My best friend has had two residents blue lighted to hospital with severe symptoms, struggling to breathe, and then sent back to the home without being admitted. One poor lady has since died, and the other is still very ill. Dfriend expects her to die soon too and is traumatised. She says they have no help.

As they died in the care home and were not even tested (no admission - no test) they will not be in that number of deaths.
