Why are people still selling on Facebook??

Is selling your stuffed unicorn toy or that old DVD player really worth catching Covid19 for i had a few old posts that garnered a few inquiries and they all got a piece of my mind before i deleted everything i had for sale. Common sense doesn't seem to exist

I seen someone selling Primark slippers usually £4 for £10, also seen people selling beds etc

Because they’re ignorant.

Because they’ve had weeks to clear out their homes and need the money

But they can't sell or buy its not essential travel and carries a massive risk so they won't be making any money. A lot of the selling groups im on have had admins putting up posts telling people to stop trying but they keep posting tat for sale and getting no replies apart from ones pointing out as i have its not essential and the risks

Why would you catch it by selling stuff?

Both the buy/sell groups I'm on are deleting any posts that are asking about suspending sales, usually after a massive pile on about people needing to sell things if they're out of work etc.

I can understand both sides.

People are still buying things on the internet and we haven't been told to stop, so what is the difference between that and Amazon

I would guess that it is creating an unnecessary journey. Person A sells a thing, person B drives across town / to the next town to collect it, then back again. If it's not a necessity we've been told not to go out.

Hmmm walking upto someones front door face to face with them whilst handing over cash pretty sure you can catch it that way. Its just not necessary at least ordering things on amazon like your nappies and groceries is essential and contactless

We haven't sold, but given quite a few things away for free.

You can use bank transfer very quickly and easily.

I bought something locally, paid by online transfer, seller left the item out when I said I was coming, picked up the item wearing gloves, put it in the boot of the car, 2 minute drive home then left it in the boot for 3 days to decontaminate. Then took it out and washed it, just to be sure.
I think that's ok and it felt a lot safer than going to a shop and hanging around lots of people.

Err because people need money

Bank transfer could be made, ítem left outside then cleaned before use etc.

Lots of people have money worries, Dont understand why you dont get that

at least ordering things on amazon like your nappies and groceries is essential and contactless yeh but lots of us, myself included are ordering things that aren’t “essentials”, but they are essential to say entertain my 2yr old. Don’t think it’s hugely different to going to the supermarket- there’s way to try and minimise risk.

Many people / sellers are only accepting PayPal and collection from outside of the property I.e on the driveway with zero contact.

I guess its down to the purchaser to decide whether it's essential travel or not.

Are people really transferring money to people before actually having them item sounds risky to me

I know I don't understand it especially clothes and mattresses ffs! Another thing is the people giving away free junk...collect it off the front etc it's encouraging people to go out! Regardless bc wether people pay by bank transfer you are still handling shit other people have handled!! I see pics of loads of books puzzles etc left out you don't know whose been rifling through them before you!
