Sore throat very painful to swallow. Headache. I feel really warm as well and just generally feel shit.

Doesn't seem to matter how much I drink my mouth is still really dry as well.

Drink lots and stay at home.

BananaChocolateLump · 13/04/2020 06:42

My children are currently at their dad's and they're supposed to be coming back today. My son is SEN and won't understand that he can't come near me etc. I should get their dad to keep them shouldn't I?

I would leave DC with the dad. You need to rest as much as possible. Hopefully you will only have mild symptoms if it is coronavirus.

BananaChocolateLump · 13/04/2020 06:52

I hope he agrees to keep them. He can be quite difficult.

Do you have a fever?

SoloMummy · 13/04/2020 06:58

I wouldn't assume is coronavirus. Plenty of people have had tonsillitis and bad throats as part of hay-fever symptoms.

However, in current climate, isolating is better for you and the children.

BananaChocolateLump · 13/04/2020 07:12

I have a fever, also don't have any tonsils

I didn't think a sore throat and trouble swallowing were main symptoms? You may just have another virus or infection.

notagaincharlie · 13/04/2020 07:21

I've got a sore throat and blocked nose, but neither are symptoms of CV....

Sosadandempty · 13/04/2020 07:23

When I had (mild, probably not CV, but who knows - only headache, earache, a sore throat and fatigue) symptoms my sister recommended that I inhale steam (head over bowl of just boiled water, towel over my head) as the virus apparently can live in your nasal passage for a long time, and it doesn’t like heat. I don’t know if it’s wrong to pass on what may be a disputed tip (she also dropped off manuka and propolis lozenges which helped with the sore throat), but I feel bad not doing it.

I hope you feel better soon and I would agree that your kids stay with their Dad. Do you have enough food in or know people who could drop some off or anything else that you need?

crazydiamond222 · 13/04/2020 07:24

Do you have a loss of taste or smell? I think a sore throat can be an early symptom but blocked nose less so. Make sure you take lots of vitamin d.

A sore throat is one of the symptoms, a blocked nose isn't. A sore throat can be a symptom of many things. Including any virus.

Sosadandempty · 13/04/2020 07:25

Also zinc and vitamin c. Apparently it’s vitamin d3 which is the best one (saw that somewhere, probably needs checking).

According to scientists, it takes a temperature of 132.8F to reduce the coronavirus. I wouldn't recommend inhaling that!

Actually in the midst of a pandemic I would assume it is CV. Can't understand why people are saying ( out of cold and flu season) don't assume it's CV! Just self isolate.

Nobody was suggesting that they shouldn't follow the guidance and self-isolate. That is not the same thing as saying to not assume that something is Covid-19. The symptoms described are consistent with lots of bacterial and viral infections. All of which are still circulating and infecting people. There is a difference between being cautious and being hysterical. There is no reason to assume one has developed Covid-19 - it may be a pandemic, but statistically the odds are still very low unless you have been indulging in risky behaviour or have been in close contact with the disease.
