Amazon driver coughed/sneezed near me

I know I’m being a bit silly or maybe not I don’t know
I was out for a walk, about 10 minutes from my house, I was walking towards an amazon delivery driver I went to step in the road but a car was coming he was probably about 2.5 meters away when he did like a sneeze/cough thing and didn’t cover it, I must have walked right through it
Now I’m worried, am I being silly? I live in the southwest so cases are low but I can’t stop thinking about it
:(

That’s not serious is it @IwantKoalas?

IwantKoalas · 11/04/2020 22:41

Depends how fast he was walking. You have to get away from a sneeze pretty quick to a safe 4m distance

IwantKoalas · 11/04/2020 22:42

Purple daises If I was the op I would complain to amazon even if l didn't get sick

Mummiepig · 11/04/2020 22:43

He kept walking quickly towards me, there was no where for me to go, wall on one side, road with cars the other, he obviously didn’t care about social distancing as he made no effort to stop or avoid me

I paused to step in the road but couldn’t, next thing we were passing

Complaining to Amazon would be a complete overreaction. the poor man hasn't done anything wrong in terms of his job. It was probably just hayfever.

Mine is usually quite mild but it's been horrible this weekend. I sneezed several times yesterday during a 10 minute walk

IwantKoalas · 11/04/2020 22:46

I would blame amazon because its their delivery system being in the ops space and putting them at risk

Mummiepig · 11/04/2020 22:46

He could have covered it,
I won’t complain to amazon there’s not much point

There's nose sprays that were proven to protect against flu. It turns to a gel in the nose trapping virus

Mummiepig · 11/04/2020 22:50

I did hold my breath but apparently that doesn’t work

No well done, that would help

Nixen · 11/04/2020 23:05

I can’t believe I’m actually reading that people are going to complain to amazon about a driver sneezing, Jesus Christ. If you’re that paranoid just stay in your damn house and seal the windows shut.

meonekton · 11/04/2020 23:11

Yes of course he could have covered it. But he didn't. He is at fault no doubt. But equally, you could have done something too. You said yourself he was 2.5 m away when he sneezed. If he was 3 steps away from you, you could have stepped away 3 steps instead of walking 3 steps towards him.
Anyway, if you have caught it, there's nothing you can do about it. Self isolate for 14 days to make sure you are not passing it to anyone else.

PurpleDaisies · 11/04/2020 23:12

The op doesn’t need to self isolate because someone sneezed near her!

meonekton · 11/04/2020 23:18

Purple, I was not being serious!

PurpleDaisies · 11/04/2020 23:22

That’s good @meonekton. This thread is a bit nuts and I really wasn’t sure from your post. On another thread someone was telling a poster to self isolate because she’d let her child scoot too close up another child.

meonekton · 11/04/2020 23:27

Purple, I get that a lot. My intentions are not always clear. Maybe due to English being not my native language. Grin

PurpleDaisies · 11/04/2020 23:29

I wouldn’t have got that without you telling me! I’m sure speaking face to face I’d have got it from your tone. Your last paragraph was just too deadpan for me!

indemMUND · 11/04/2020 23:30

If it helps, I would've felt the same panic. I've hand sewn a mask cut out of an old T-shirt for the rare times I leave the house. If you google it, you could make one too. If anything it could catch droplets that might land near your mouth/nose and can be put straight in the wash when you get home and carefully remove it, then wash your hands.

AtrociousCircumstance · 11/04/2020 23:33

We all need to be wearing masks of some kind right now. Even a scarf helps a great deal.

OP I’m sure you’re fine but wear a mask for your peace of mind from now on.

ManchesterChidless · 11/04/2020 23:39

It’s allergies. I’ve been sneezing today

IwantKoalas · 11/04/2020 23:43

Just a sneeze is whats killing thousands a day

IwantKoalas · 11/04/2020 23:44

I think people should be fined for not using a tissue
