I'm terrified about the restrictions being eased.

I don't feel the government guidance has been that good so far and I don't trust them to tell us how to get back to normal safely.
My workplace was one of the last retailers to close and I know they'd have us straight back in as soon as anything is lifted and without definite checks everything is safe.
I think there will be a second wave of this when the rules are relaxed and a lot of workplaces will be so desperate for money they'll have the full staff in straight away.

I thibk people are keen for schools to open because wfh with young children is a nightmare I should imagine. Lots of parents report sticking them in front of tv. They have to work so can't be doing crafty things or baking or going for bike rides all day every day. It's basically a summer holiday for many kids but without the trips to the park, pool or on actual holiday. Months of that isn't going to be good for them. It's also not good for parents who are struggling to work. It'd be nice if everyone just thought 'well I'm safe', embraced the lockdown because 'safety' and had no worries. Unfortunately that isn't realistic, and there comes a point where the upsides of lockdown have to be considered against the costs of lockdown.

I will send DS back to school when it’s open but he won’t be seeing my parents or MIL so I will stay off work to do drop off and pick up. DH can WFH and is, very hard. I will keep DS off if numbers start to rise again. It isn’t getting it, it’s having a ventilator available if we do! Leaving it as long as possible for treatments to be developed.
I am not prepared to practice Dentistry without a vaccine or positive antibody test.
This may be the end of my career but rather that than the end of my life!

I don't think it'll be eased. I think they are meeting to discuss upping it! For less exercising.

To try and stop the idiots that are still abusing the rules.

Well exactly smile keeping lockdown for a few more months seems sensible I agree. But the idea of plunging the country into a weird merry go round of lockdown - normal for 18 months until we get a vaccine is frankly idiotic. The idea is its worse in winter months. Well I hate to say it but it's the UK. If we're only allowed out when it's sunny we are quite frankly fucked and will be inside for most of the year.

That's without re disruption. Not just anxiety in children but also disruption to older children's education. Fixing that will be fun for teachers won't it.

No one will know where the fuck they are. Businesses won't survive. The reason people are taking the lockdown seriously is because it's been introduced as a last measure. The longer it continues the more complacent we all become. So if we're stuck on a misery go round for 18 months there'll be rule breakers than there currently are.

It'll be chaos and a logistical nightmare. All the deaths from non covid stuff that's been shoved to one side. Chaos for employees who haven't got a clue if they're coming or going and a massive headache for employers.

Only a few months ago anyone even suggesting wfh with a child at home were jumped on as taking the piss etc etc and how can you work with kids about. People soon changed their tune didnt they?

The misery go round will cause economic insecurity. Which will in turn prevent some abused women leaving their partners or making an exit plan. It'll also increase the spread of covid as young people in crappily paid jobs won't bee able to even move out into shared accommodation. They'll be at home with their parents. We'll see the rise of multi generation households which leads to spread of the virus.

But never mind eh, think 'safety'. Fuck the future and the economy and life after this whole mess ends. We should think 'safety' and be chomping at the bit to hop on the misery go round.
