Should my daughter be considered high risk?

My DD is 22, works on the frontline for the NHS and has asthma. She takes salbutamol inhaler and clenil modulite steroid inhaler 200mcg. She’s been prescribed oral steroids twice this year and has been hospitalised twice with chest infections also gets the yearly free flu jab. Is she high risk please?

Only her GP can answer that question. Tell her to call them.

hopeishere · 07/04/2020 20:39

She needs to speak to occupational health

SoloMummy · 07/04/2020 22:09

Has she received a shielding letter? If not, she's only vulnerable.

She needs to speak to hr and occupational health.

Splitsunrise · 07/04/2020 22:20

She needs to speak to her doctor to ascertain this. It’s technically only for “severe asthma”.

Splitsunrise · 07/04/2020 22:23

But to be honest (from a completely non medical perspective) if she has been admitted to hospital twice with chest infections it sounds like she could very well be more likely to be badly affected by this virus. But again we can’t advise with any kind of certainty....

are you wanting to know because you don’t think she should be working or something else?

I’m sorry, it sounds very worrying for you Flowers

ihatethecold · 07/04/2020 22:24

Asthma uk website is very helpful.

IsMyDaughterHighRisk · 07/04/2020 22:40

Thanks for the replies. I’ll check some of these out. I am
Worried and would rather she wasn’t working

Well she's an adult and can contact occ health herself. From what we're seeing a history of hypertension is more problematic than asthma and her age and sex is in her favour. I'd be a lot more worried about a 50 yr old brother in law with hypertension.

Fairybatman · 07/04/2020 22:46

The guidelines are being updated again so they aren’t on the asthma UK website just now. They are really clear on there when they come back on.

CalmYoBadSelf · 07/04/2020 22:47

Based on her medication she is vulnerable but not requiring shielding. Not sure if her hospital stays change that though

Kittywampus · 07/04/2020 22:58

I think the asthma UK has a full list of inhalers and doses.

Are her work being supportive?

@Kateplaysrugbyinmydreams please may I ask where you are getting your data from? I'm also asthmatic so interested in the figures.

GreenTulips · 07/04/2020 22:59

Look on the Asthma website

It’s states 3 medications and steroids etc

It’s worth a read

Kittywampus · 07/04/2020 23:01

Just seen that the asthma UK website doesn't seem to have the list any more. Some people have posted screenshots on this thread : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3857723-Asthma-uk-website?pg=1&order=#pretty although some of the guidance could have changed

IsMyDaughterHighRisk · 08/04/2020 08:39

Thanks everyone. We are waiting for a call back from GP. We had also seen that list of meds on asthma but then it disappeared. She hasn’t received a letter but so many were missed. I don’t have a BIL with hypertension to worry about luckily, just a daughter with asthma and a history of being floored with chest infection.

@GreenTulips do you have a link please, we can’t find the list of meds.
