Tooth fairy during corona (not important, I know!)

I realise this is not terribly important so I apologise in advance - please feel free to ignore this post - but we have a few wobbly teeth in the family and I know the tooth fairy is still expected to turn up. The problem is that we don’t have any coins in the house and we are unlikely to be able to get hold of any as stores don’t handle cash atm.

Any suggestions for how to keep the magic alive?

Do you have anything you could substitute, mini eggs, small toys etc

sleepismysuperpower1 · 06/04/2020 17:06

could they bring a sweetie instead? or you could get some of the peter rabbit 50ps online (although they will cost more than 50p obviously) x

mangomama91 · 06/04/2020 17:07

Do the children have any in their money boxes? Would they notice if the tooth fairy borrowed a coin or two?

Or use a substitute gift

Embracelife · 06/04/2020 17:09

Write a note

chickedeee · 06/04/2020 17:09

Our tooth fairy write an IOU Grin

On amazon you can order gold coins from the tooth fairy. Or maybe try smaller shops they will give cash. Some cash machines give £5 notes if your tooth fairy is well off. Alternatively you could order gold chocolate coins. Or a note from the tooth fairy saying during these times they will have to accept a bank transfer 🤣🤣

I understand Jacinda Arden, PM in NZ has done something about this for children, saying the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny are essential workers.
You can find the video on google.

I had this last week... Sent myself an email and saved my address as TOOTH FAIRY HEAD OFFICE.
Subject: Coronavirus Tooth Collection.
And basically put that'd the tooth collection fairy couldn't make it out to collect/leave money but that if they kept it in a safe place then all teeth would be collected when lockdown was over.
Kid was happy enough with that, an I've now got a tooth sat in the pestle and mortar in the kitchen until further notice Grin

BarbarAnna · 06/04/2020 17:15

I think it is important actually. Our kids need as much normality as possible. I haven’t got any useful suggestions but just wanted to say that.

recycledbottle · 06/04/2020 17:42

We told our DS that the fairy wont be flying around different houses as will catch corona. He seemed happy enough with that and put it in a safe place for when the fairies are back in business.

Thank you so much everyone! Flowers

These are obviously important milestones in the lives of 6 and 7 year olds, so thank you everyone for taking the time to reply and for giving such great advice!!

Can you ‘borrow’ from their own piggy banks.
My granddaughter lost one last week and informed her mum that the tooth fairy is a key worker!

ToTheVetsWeGo · 06/04/2020 18:10

We don't similar to @Dippitydoodle. We wrote a letter saying pretty much the same thing and dd was happy enough

ToTheVetsWeGo · 06/04/2020 18:12

Done not don't.

Myshinynewname · 06/04/2020 18:15

Do you have any neighbours who you could ask? I would happily loan a neighbour a pound for the tooth fairy. They could just drop it outside on their daily exercise.

LynetteScavo · 06/04/2020 19:13

I'd also ask my neighbour- I'd happily give my neighbour my £1 coins for this.
