Anybody else's neighbours like this?

My neighbours have children who play in the gardens with their noise at an acceptable level and sociable hours.

Nobody is inviting guests round for BBQs.

Nobody is doing noisy DIY at unreasonable times.

They WhatsApp the rest of the street to see if anybody wants something picked up at the shops. No judgement if it's something non-essential like alcohol. They pay immediately by bank transfer.

The dog owners aren't walking their dogs 5 times a day because their dogs are special.

The houses with young children often stick pictures in their windows which cheers up the neighbourhood.

People are rarely leaving the street. (I can hear cars driving)

If someone is short on milk or whatever, there's lots of volunteers who are happy to drop some off if they have extra.

Nobody is parking so that the bin men and emergency vehicles can't drive past.

Everybody is sharing info like if they see a local shop getting a delivery.

I live near a local tourist spot and can see that the car park is empty.

Zone four London here, we have a what’s app support group which has been incredibly helpful & actually quite fun people swapping toys, garden plants, updates on stock in the various supermarkets everyone being respectful of noise in the gardens.
Very quiet just the odd person going for a walk or run, most cars have been parked up for a couple of weeks, everyone appears to be abiding by the rules.

rap music full blast in the garden, the mother has a face like a slapped arse, otherside a gay couple who are either singing or screetching

I find joining in with as much fake enthusiasm as possible (avoid being openly sarcastic, do your best to pretend to be genuinely interested) soon extinguishes their interest.

I have lovely neighbours and it's very quiet around where we live... with one exception ... there's always one. One of her kids is an evil child, his siblings are very well behaved, but he is trouble. She is also frankly stupid (lots of examples) and way too noisy, screams at him outside her house and in the garden, and she's not very friendly with anyone.

It was easy to guess that the one person who would be breaching the lockdown rules would be her. Guess what, her new boyfriend stays over few times a week and pops over for a chat outside. We all knew she'd be a dick.

Unfortunately those that were dicks throughout just stayed that way!

She also started off with her loud and stinking BBQs in fucking March, even earlier than usual. She'd have them at 8C outside, ffs.

It's pretty peaceful here. There was a noisy BBQ on the first day of lockdown but they've been quiet since. Kids are playing in the gardens along our row, we're waving hello at each other if we go out and people are really trying to keep their distance. The only Shock moment was when our NDNs on one side went out into the garden with really noisy friends who came round earlier today. They'd seemed quite sensible up to that point - and went in pretty quickly when my landlady told them to shut up. Dozy idiots.

We have a WhatsApp group and everyone's looking out for each other. There are a lot of elderly and vulnerable people round here and people are checking in before they go to the shops to see if anyone needs anything.

I'm also surprised at how few people are out on the streets even in the middle of the day. We're in a densely populated area of a medium-sized city but it's really quiet!

So quiet here that a vixen has dug her earth right on the wooded bank right next to our drive, about 6feet from our front door. She must think we’ve all gone.
Means I’ve got to clean the drive now though because she’s kicked the soil and stones all over it, luckily doesn’t seem have hit the car..DH would go mad!

LesLavandes · 06/04/2020 18:05

We are all being well behaved in my street

nellythenarwhal · 06/04/2020 19:13

I used to have one of those neighbours who'd spoil it for everyone else. Glad they are not my current neighbours.

The reports of wildlife venturing into streets amused me. No mountain goats or deer here yet.

Yep, my neighbours are being great. We even had a boogie on our drives yesterday when my next door neighbour set up his DJ equipment. It was great, as it was like a normal party but you didn't have to make small talk with anyone, because they were all so far away.
