Would You Take A Parcel In?

Next door go out multiple times a day and have the grandkids round. They're out AGAIN and some bloke just knocked on their door with a parcel.

Next thing I know, he's on MY doorstep knocking and asking if I would take it in, I said no. For one thing, it's the size of small house, so they would have to come into the house to collect it. I don't want to leave it on the step as it's been raining and might get nicked. It looks expensive. If I took it round I would need to be reasonably sure they were in and the size of the thing I would be covered and would need to wash everything I'm wearing. Because it's been shown that the virus can remain on cardboard we're spraying everything that comes into the house and leaving it a couple of days in the hallway before we open it. We then discard the packaging and wash our hands.

I'm not prepared to risk catching the virus because a household of 4 people presumably ordered something, knew it was coming and buggered off out regardless. If it had been really tiny I might had done it, but this parcel was the size of a small fridge and looked heavy.

As neighbours they frequently dump rubbish in our front garden and play loud music when I am trying to work, which doesn't exactly endear me to them.

AIBU?

Yanbu they aren't following the lockdown if they are out all day everyday unless of course they are keyworkers?

TheReluctantCountess · 06/04/2020 16:22

No I wouldn’t take it in.

Petiolaris · 06/04/2020 16:22

YANBU. I wouldn’t touch a parcel if I didn’t have to, and I certainly wouldn’t drop it round to their house or let them come to my house.

Stellaris22 · 06/04/2020 16:22

I wouldn't. Unless they are key workers there's no reason to not be home. They shouldn't order things if they know they're going out.

Pineappletree33 · 06/04/2020 16:22

Nope, not based on what you’ve said.

lilgreen · 06/04/2020 16:24

Yanbu

MysticMeghan · 06/04/2020 16:35

They're not key workers. Neither of them work. Which is why they are at home all day playing music. I worked from home a lot even before lockdown. I don't complain about the music. It's a terrace so you have to expect a little give and take. I expect they think we're quite noisy too.

I was absolutely gobsmacked that the parcel guy even asked me. I had a parcel collected this morning by DPD and I left it outside during the hour window you get with a note on. The DPD guy collected it, left the note and the receipt under the mat and didn't even knock on the door which was fine with me.

From what you’ve said I wouldn’t take a parcel for them even if there wasn’t the risk of the virus.

Wannabangbang · 06/04/2020 16:43

Yadnbu then, don't risk yourself getting their parcel or delivering it. They shouldn't be going out multiple times a day either, idiots

PumpkinP · 06/04/2020 17:02

Wow, he shouldn’t even be knocking on your door.
