Doing a shopping list for Wednesday when me or DP will go for it.

What vitamins would you recommend for me, dp and 8 year old ds?

I’m taking vitamin d3 and C. Who knows if they will work? 🤷‍♀️ For me it’s worth a shot though.

pocketem · 06/04/2020 13:25

Don't get medical advice from random internet forum posters
Would you really feed your 8 year old tablets based on what some anonymous mumsnetter says??

Undecided91 · 06/04/2020 13:26

Apparently it is Vit D and Vit C that might helpt to boost immune system against corona so we are taking those (me, DH and a toddler)

Bridecilla · 06/04/2020 13:29

@pocketem I'm not planning on buying vitamins from Druggy Dave at number 54. There's a canny selection on ASDA website which I assume are safe. Just wondered which type to stick on the list

I take vitamin d anyway but advised dh to have it too also having vitamin c effervescent tablets

Teen/adult dds taking multi vitamins

For Dd9, can’t get hold of any kid vegetarian friendly vitamins

I guess it can’t do any harm although too much of any vitamin isn’t good

DressingGownofDoom · 06/04/2020 13:32

Just our usual - a regular multi vitamin and vitamin D spray. DS gets omega 3 drops too.

FourFlapjacksPlease · 06/04/2020 13:33

We are all taking 1000mg of vit C, as well as vitamin D3. DD and I also taking B12. I take sage, Biotin and evening Primrose for perimenopause symptoms - I now rattle when I walk!

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 06/04/2020 13:34

B12 (I’m vegan so have to take this), turmeric (has to have black pepper in www.healthline.com/nutrition/top-10-evidence-based-health-benefits-of-turmeric#section5) vitamin D and last but not least magnesium / zinc. I basically rattle for about 10 minutes after taking them!

But turmeric is great, I would really recommend that one, and also magnesium / zinc. Not sure for the 8 year old though.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 06/04/2020 13:35

@FourFlapjacksPlease Do you take sage in a tablet form, or is it in its neutral form? I didn’t know that helped with premenopausal symptoms. Top tip!

loumoo · 06/04/2020 13:35

Vitamin C and zinc for adult and giving the kids a multivitamin. I read somewhere that pregnacare is a good all round option if you have some kicking about and can’t get out.

katmarie · 06/04/2020 13:35

I'm breastfeeding so I've been taking vitamins anyway, I take a multivitamin, vitamin d, biotin and an iron supplement. Hoping it will all help!

Spamellahamella · 06/04/2020 13:38

I have a vit d spray and take a zinc tablet.

WhatHaveIFound · 06/04/2020 13:39

DD takes a multi vitamin as her iron levels are on the low end of normal. The rest of us don't bother but i feel we've got a very good diet.

ArnoldBee · 06/04/2020 13:41

Me and sprog are taking multi vitamins as we dont want to end up with Ricketts :-)

TheSandman · 06/04/2020 13:41

I take vit D for SAD. Which, since I am out doors a LOT less this year than I was last, is going to hit me like a fucking truck next winter.

olivo · 06/04/2020 13:41

H1978. We use a Tesco multi vit for my 10yo who is vegetarian. In a purple and white tub. She takes them daily anyway.

I am taking my normal daily multi vit with an occasional vitamin c and zinc effervescent. Dh is taking additional vit c and zinc but I think that is to appease me. He is a key worker so I worry more about him.

BrokenBrit · 06/04/2020 13:46

I always take vit D with K2 as it increases availability.
I have known risk factors for being low in Vit D) so any Covid benefits will be good too! I also take B12 as I think most of us are deficient in that too.
I am also taking Vit C at this time.

Badoukas · 06/04/2020 13:47

One multi vit a day.

Ithinkthis · 06/04/2020 13:50

A lot will say that you don’t need vitamin supplements unless you specifically have a limited diet or medical conditions that cause poor absorption. However the NHS website suggests we all take vit D (in winter) so I believe we should. I take a multi vitamin (has 100% recommend amounts) as I figure if I am going to be taking a vitamin pill (vit d) then this won’t do any harm and I dont have the best diet

123bananas · 06/04/2020 13:53

Vit D, Vit C 1000mg with zinc for me as I am frontline. Don't bother with multi vit as I eat a well balanced diet.

Kids take a multi vit and extra vit D daily due to deficiency.

Caspianberg · 06/04/2020 13:55

Currently taking pregnancy multi vitamins. But otherwise dh and I have taken Berrocca for years when we are feeling run down and i feel they do help us get over any cold etc quicker. Berrocca usually 3 for 2 in many places. We don't take it on a daily all year basis, just for the duration of any illness usually. Dh has been having a couple a week atm, just to keep his immune system boosted.

megletthesecond · 06/04/2020 13:59

Yes. Me and the dc's have always taken them. Just regular multi vits and minerals. I've got Boots own and the dc's have wellkid.
Also eating more veg and fruit and making sure we get out in the sun for exercise.

coronade · 06/04/2020 13:59
This is a good explanation as to why we should all take vit d. He also recommends taking vit c if you start getting symptoms.
WanderingMilly · 06/04/2020 14:04

I take a multi vitamin every day, have done for a long while. The type I chose are high in all the B vitamins (helpful for all sorts of reasons including mental health), Vit C (coughs, colds) and Vit D (particularly helpful if you don't get plenty of outdoor sunlight). They seem very appropriate at the moment.

ClientQueen · 06/04/2020 14:06

My usual multivitamins from I am feel. Plus greens powder as my diet is a bit low in fruit and veg at the minute
