FCO extends travel restrictions indefinitely?

The article I just read said they are extending their restrictions/bans past the 30 days to indefinitely.

Quote from the daily mirror article 'This means that if you have a holiday booked, it's now effectively cancelled"

So, what does that exactly mean now?

Well I would check here www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

And see what they say ....

I've also read this on several news sites but can't find anything on the FCO website?

fivesecondrule · 06/04/2020 14:26

Well according to some of the comments on the FCO twitter account- they've updated their Twitter status but not the website or told travel and insurance companies about it so no one knows what going off!

What does this actually mean??

fivesecondrule · 06/04/2020 15:15

No idea! The FCO have advised against overseas travel "indefinitely" as of today but the last update on the FCO website was 30th March so they haven't gone into specifics yet just left a lot of confused people by the looks of it. I've been trying to cancel a holiday we're due to go on in August all week but can't get through to Virgin. We would've lost our deposit but we were going to just suck it up. If the FCO have tells us not to travel we will be covered by our insurance so would like to know as I'm sure thousands of others would.

I have something booked for November, not flights or anything yet just a concert ticket. I am hoping to go but this has got me crying again.. hopes dashed.
