Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner (Facebook)

Been drawn to pictures on this page today.

Albeit I'm very rural Scotland. I've been watching a few threads and commented on a few about respecting boundaries and rules at present, and indeed people's perceptions of those.

There's a post on here with over two thousand comments of people just sitting in the park, sun bathing and playing games. How can this be?

I know on mumsnet, and I may have missed it, nobody would admit to ever doing anything like this. Or indeed shopping for non essentials, or stockpiling.

But this has staggered me. What is going on? Why is this happening. I'm so sad and scared right now.

I also apologise if this has been covered. It probably has. Or it may be this fake news stuff I keep seeing. But in that video that park looks like a normal day? Am I wrong?

I don’t think it’s an “anti-London” thing. London is usually represented in news reports more than other areas, simply because more people live there. The pictures showing parks in London rather than in (eg) Manchester is the same as usual news reporting.

It wouldn’t surprise me if my nearest proper park had plenty of people picnicking and sunbathing, even though more people have gardens here than in London.

I think you're right @nellythenarwhal Diversion tactic.

There seems to be a campaign to get us fighting amongst ourselves to distract from serious issues like a chronic shortage of PPE and testing.

this.

Yes some parts of London are busy, especially parks. We're all cramped in, so even in most gardens you're very close to your neighbours. For people without gardens in high rises, it's natural to want to get out on the first day of proper sun we've had in months. Despite that, most people are sensible, most are staying in.

With housing costs so high I suspect that many of the groups seen in these London photos are people who share a house/flat and so the same household exercise rules apply.

I think this situation has just highlighted what a poor standard of living a lot of Londoners have got. The comments about the tube got to me - people outside of London fuming that only key workers should be going to work clearly not understanding that key workers can't afford to live in London so they all have to commute in. Then there's the number of people crammed into one room in an HMO. This seems to be the straw that's broken the camels back

Yes. Too many people think all Londoners are rich with second homes and an opulent lifestyle. The reality for many is very far removed from that. There's a huge amount of deprivation and overcrowding.
