Competitive shopping - or not!

What is it on here with some posters spouting rubbish like "Bread and milk aren't essential" and so on? What are these people eating for the lockdown - gruel and water?! Whilst wearing their sack cloth and ashes no doubt! Come on, ffs, essentials are whatever an individual family or Individual deem essential. Boris didn't even list what the essentials are for that reason. Do the gruel people think that chocolate, cheese, meat, bread and milk etc should be removed from the supermarket shelves? It's crazy we can buy whatever is available in the Supermarket on our once or twice weekly shop so while we're doing that why is it a sin to buy our normal range of foods we enjoy and s few treats?Hell, I threw in some magazines and an Easter egg the other day🙊
Cut the competitive undershopping. Lord knows, we need something to cheer us up atm

In my opinion it's not about the contents of what you buy, itvs whether the trip itself is essential. So if you've run out of bread and you go just for bread I think that's a bit daft given the current circumstsnces, you could probably obablt wait until your next full shop. So basically do as few shops as possible but it doesn't really matter what you buy when you are there as long as it is enough to get you through as long as possible

Some people also forget that while they can substitute items or do without, maybe others can't. If you have a small child you will need milk, it's not just the case of not just not adding it to your tea.

Please remember also those with asd kids that will only eat X,y,z and if you cannot buy enough in one go because it's a restricted item(pasta/bread etc) they have no option but to go shopping more often

Exactly @Stillliving. People smugly saying "We have no bread, my ds will eat crackers". Great but telling a child with asd to just eat something else will absolutely not work. Different families have different sets of essential needs and one size does not fit all.
