Police state

On my local Facebook groups, the majority are calling for a police state or military patrolling. The sociologist in me wonders if there’s something more at play here than the virus, it’s almost as if these people have wanted this all along?!
They’re almost salivating at the thought of it.
One man said those leaving their house should be whipped or even shot at!

Am I missing something here?!

I think a lot of people want this over as quickly as possible and it looks like the only way for that to happen is if people practice social distancing but that only works if we all practice it. Some people either don’t get it or they don’t care.

I’m bloody furloughed, the longer this goes the more likely I’m not going to have a job at the end.

Agree at how quickly people say they would be willing to lose their liberties. Or for other people to lose theirs.

My family, I and everyone I know have been complying and so has our nearby community as far as I can tell.

I think that many people (certainly the ones I’m acquainted with and the ones on our local Facebook group) calling for extreme measures live pretty locked down and restricted lives anyway with very few prospects of improvement whether that’s through health, poverty, poor life choices, whatever.

If someone already feels their life is something they have little control over then maybe they’d be quite happy for everyone to be in the same boat. Especially if they see themselves as complying. Maybe it’s their ultimate stick-it-to-the-man.

There are lots of complaints about people using parks in London. They could actually issue tickets at the gates! The supermarkets are doing this. No picnics and no booze. Just people exercising and keeping moving. It’s really not that difficult to organise. Instead we are threatened with total lockdown. I have 15 acres so I’m ok but my DDs are in flats. They need exercise. If it goes too far there will be big trouble brewing.

My friend is one of these idiots on facebook.
"Two people walked past my door. I didn't even recognise them as living on my street so why was it necessary to walk down it? Fucking idiots just need to STAY INDOORS."

I don't know. Maybe they were out for a walk in a different direction. Maybe they normally drive and thought they would walk to the shops. Maybe they were delivering groceries to someone vulnerable.
And in any case, what harm was it doing her (or anyone else) for two people to walk past her house?

Who is Marshall Law? Is he a friend of Chester Draws?

Totally agree.
