If a stranger sneezed or coughed on me ...

Or even a friend or family member, I would probably know about it and be quite cross.

And so there must be other ways to catch this, no?

So surely people must be mainly picking it up from surfaces? So why can we still receive amazon deliveries etc for none essential stuff?

Can I ask those who have it if they can think of a defining time they think they picked it up? Such as someone sneezing on them?

There is o much conflicting stuff in the news / from official sources regarding how this so contracted so quickly between people.

Yes it survives on surfaces. That's why hand washing and not touching your face is so important! Most of all... do NOT touch your face or eyes. Wear a face shield when out and about to avoid droplets from someone who has coughed/sneezed.

So why the parcels?

I thought it was still unproven but though maybe survives on different surfaces doe different amounts of time?

Surely we should be avoiding anything new (other than food and essentials) coming into our house during this lockdown.

But we are not told to.

Sorry to seem argumentative but it doesn't make sense. We can't antibac everything in our house or wash our hands constantly.

So we are not safe even if we follow all the guidelines to the letter. Are we?

We are leaving parcels for 24 hours or so before opening, then spraying whatever is inside and washing our hands. Seems insane but it seems anything coming in could be a potential risk.

HealingCalmingSoothing · 05/04/2020 14:55

Using this logic and bearing in mind we all bring in so many products into our house and that it is impossible to wash everything we consume and handle, we are all going to get this.

My parcels go into quarantine. I leave them for 5 days.

HealingCalmingSoothing · 05/04/2020 14:57

How do any of us know how long is long enough to quarantine?

Minimise items entering your house.

Clean anything coming into your house.

Open parcels outside your house, leave the packaging in the outside bin, then wash your hands and the item before you put it down on any surfaces.

They need to keep the economy going, so they're not shutting down all sales of non-essentials, and trusting that people can use some common sense to minimise the possibility of infection.
