Finding out your pregnant during a pandemic

Not that I wasnt paranoid enough as I have a throat/chest problem, now I've found out I'm 5 plus weeks pregnant and suddenly feel very vulnerable and scared. Pregnant women are considered high risk and told to take immediate self isolation measures along with those with health complications. Is this really the case? Does being pregnant jeopardise your recovery rate or is this all precautions. Is It rational to assume i must stay the heck away from everyone until this baby is born?

I know someone who had it and is pregnant and she was fine. I'm also pregnant and I'm mainly worried as I'm also asthmatic. I'm staying in unless I have to go out. I have a scan tomorrow so have to go out and dreading it. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't have other health issues and take precautions

Hi.

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and had the virus. It was horrible, but I stayed home and now nearly 2 weeks in, recovering well.

Try not to worry, but please do distance yourself from the wider public.

Stay calm - and congratulations!

The logic with covid-19 and pregnancy is, despite the fact that it doesn’t seem to be any worse in pregnant women than the population as a whole, we have decades of knowledge that some women do have more extreme reactions to viruses in pregnancy, which is why pregnant women get a flu vaccine.

I’m 22 weeks and it’s really important to take every precaution (I’m avoiding the supermarket and only going out for a daily walk at times when I know it will be quiet) but by my maths you’re not due until the end of November and there really is no way of knowing what will be happening by then. If there’s one thing I’ve learned during pregnancy it’s a marathon not a sprint! Don’t try and plan too far ahead. Just focus on staying well, taking all the sensible precautions and looking after your tiny baby. Smile
