Selfish spluttering in shop

Well that's it really.
I shop once every 3 days or so at our local small supermarket. Until today, the few people in the shop have behaved in a respectful, polite way observing social distancing where possible.
Today, a woman in front of me, coughed and spluttered her way round. No doing it into her arm just freely coughing while facing produce.
She seemed not to give a toss.
For the first time, I wrapped my scarf round face. Kept slipping but an attempt to not breathe her in. I could smell cigarette smoke on her from a distance so hope just a smokers cough and possibly a cold.
However, I just can't believe her seeming obliviousness to current social rules.
She bought about 5 items and left around the same time as me.
I said nothing... wimp that I am.
I blew my nose, in hope that might help, when I left the shop and wiped down my shopping on getting in.
Just a moan really...Annoyed with her, with myself for not saying anything or leaving the shop and on top of that a bit worried.
As you were!

You blew your nose at her?

It’s like the passive aggressive Olympics!

Plump82 · 05/04/2020 11:11

I think OP blew her nose in an attempt to get rid of any germs she breathed in....

DinkyDaisy · 05/04/2020 11:12

No!!!
I left the shop and privately blew my nose!
I am not a public, deliberate splutterer...

And yes, Plump82. Exactly right, to try and rid myself of any germs...

My neighbour has had a horrific cough for the past 18m. She said it's very embarrassing leaving the house

But I bet your neighbour coughs into her arm and not all over the place freely in a shop...
It was the 'open' coughing that got me rather than the coughing itself..
