Nurseries v. Schools

I'm seeing a few posts and a lot of noise around the fact schools won't be going back until September or when the new school year begins but what about nurseries? They don't have terms and operate all year round. DH and I are WFH full time with a 1 yo and it's bloody hard work. I'm grateful for this time together but had only just got back into the swing of things after coming off maternity leave and DS was just getting used to his new routine.

If we are out of isolation by mid June (working off the 12 week idea) it might not be worth schools going back but what about other childcare? What are we meant to do if we'd allowed to go back to work but there is no childcare.

An added concern is DS nursery is owned by and attached to a school.

Keen to hear anyone's thoughts or anything they might have heard.

I’m pretty sure nurseries will be back open as soon as they can be, many are unconnected with schools. For what it’s worth, my hunch is that nurseries will be open first.

I think that the schools will be opened after the summer holidays. But that other childcare, nurseries, holiday clubs and childminders will open during the summer. That way not all of the children go back at the same time. So in my theory based on nothing, back in July.

Nurseries will open before September assuming your child isn’t only in one just during term time
